I'm curious what do you ladies do when you LO is in a carrier. Do you also carry a diaper bag or bring the stroller too?
I want to buy a ergobaby carrier. I'm wondering how am I going to hold my purse or daiper bag while carrying LO
And do any of you ladies hike carrying you LO?
Re: What do you do?
No hiking here.
But when I do wear LO, I usually keep his gear in the car or DH totes it around.
I've done a lot of hiking with DS. There is a bagpack that attaches to the Ergo that I've used that can hold some diapers, food, and a water bottle.
We are going back to the Rocky Mountains this summer for a week of hiking and this time my husband is going to carry our two year old in our ergo and I will carry our 9 month old in the infantino balance. I will probably pack a small backpack with the essentials and carry it on front. If everything is secured right, it doesn't really feel like much more weight.
I have hiked with DS1 when he was younger, it was $&#*#@& hard and hot but we were also in Costa Rica, it was 10,000 degrees and humid, DS was 15 months and heavy. Oh and we were hiking up a volcano. (In my defense, I'm not straight up crazy, we were misinformed about the length and difficulty of this particular trail, DH and I had planned to trade off carrying DS but he ended up having to help his mother so I carried DS almost the entire way.) I would only be game to do shorter/easier hikes now.
If I am wearing the ergo, I just use my purse for quick trips or a cute backpack I have for longer trips. However I am also wrangling two other kids. I always carry a diaper and wipes on my person because running back to the car can be impossible with all of the kids.
We hike with our kids. Depending on weight and size we use the ergo on the front or back. We also have a kelty kid carrier (framed) and it has a backpack and ther storage compartments. If I do wear DD on the front in the ergo I always use polls because I feel like my balance is not as good with her on my back.
If I have the baby in the ergo that is usually a sign it is not a good place for the stroller.

Generally I'll just throw my phone, wallet and a spare diaper/thin pack of wipes in the pocket on my ergo. Nothing to carry. I also have diapers/wipes in my purse so sometimes I'll carry that with me.
I've done a few hikes with LO in the ergo, very comfortable for half day hikes so far and LO loves it. I am a big fan of my ergo, LO is actually sound asleep in it right now, I prepped dinner wearing her and now DH is cooking. It's helped a lot with her evening melt downs.
