I am at work today and my mom sends me a text saying she was feeding my son until she noticed "black flecks" floating in the BM.
Has anyone experienced this? I haven't seen it yet (she didn't send a photo) but I know there were no black flecks when I froze it.
I am grossed out and hope whatever it is doesn't make my son sick.
The milk was frozen on 1/27/14
Re: Black flecks in frozen BM?
If you are certain that it wasn't there when you froze it, I'm not really sure what it could be, other than maybe the bottle wasn't clean.
At any rate, stomach's and immune systems do a pretty good job breaking down stuff that isn't entirely edible and chances are your son will be just fine. I'm guessing he's a pretty young infant, because at this point, my 8.5 month old is putting EVERYTHING in her mouth, which is gross, but has pretty much gotten me over most of my heebie jeebie's about germs.
Thank you!
My mom used another bag from the same day and there were no flecks so I am guessing it came from the bottle.
MH has been washing bottles and I am not confident they were cleaned properly.
I think I will take over the bottle and pump parts washing from now on.
