Anyone find a good way to get rid of all the needles? No one around here wants to take them off my hands and I am not supposed to throw them in the trash
Thanks for the tips on disposing of the needles! I will bring mine tomorrow to empty out. I was starting to wonder that too.
I was curious how early you guys had your first ultrasound. Do you think my husband and I will see much tomorrow? Will it be too early for heart beat? I will be exactly 6 weeks tomorrow if you go by my ovulation.
So now that I have been on the heparin for a few days it still does not burn, but I am very sore at the injection sites...maybe because they are twice a day and on a larger, tighter belly I am having a hard time finding unbruised sites. @sarah I had my first US at the same time 8 weeks post LMP (6 weeks post conception) and ylvelill is right it looks like a bean and at my appointment we heard his little heartbeat. Good luck tomorrow!
Hi! This is my first post. Joined yesterday, they said I had to wait to post anything. I'm not FVL, but protein S deficiency with Antiphospholipid antibody, APS, (both genetic, diagnosed almost 10 years ago.) I just started Enoxaparin injections 4 days ago, first "baby sex" this week as well. Already bruised up as I plopped the first syringe down into a vein! I will gladly be your Lovenox buddy! I have a pregnancy test scheduled for next Friday (Valentines' Day!!!!) and if positive, my OB handing me off 100% to maternal-fetal. Congrats and good luck. I don't know much about factor 5, but if it's anything like what I've got, we gals need it! Keep in touch!!!
Hey ladies! Just got back from my first ultrasound and I am so thrilled! Little bean is very small but I hubby and I got to see it's tiny little heart beating for the very first time!!! Already such a proud mama! My next ultrasound is scheduled for the 17th and they should be able to get me my EDD at that appointment!
I also took my syringes hoping I could dump them but they do not do it at my hospital. They said I will need to talk to the pharmacy and they will give me dumping locations
Hi ladies, this is my first post too. I also just signed up and had to wait to post but was excited (not sure if thats the right word) to see there were other women with my same condition to talk to! I am Factor 5 and got a blood clot in my brain from birth control about 12 years ago. Ive been taking 40mg of Lovenox daily since about week 10. Completly covered in brusies and I can't seem to get used to the sting. OUCH!
My OB said something similar about switching to Heparin at 30 weeks, that if I go into labor and tell the nurses im on Lovenox they will not administer an Epi bc you cannot mix the two. But Heparin has a shorter life span, which is why we take it twice a day, and so is reversible. I don't know about you guys, but I am def not wanting au natural labor so bring on the drugs!
Good luck with everyone pregnancies and I will keep checking back in to see how everyone is progressing
Michfoselleter and izzetoot welcome to the group and congratulations. It is so nice to have a group that understands and is going through similar experiences. Sarahnoelle88 - I am so happy that things went well yesterday and that you got to see your little bean and hear the heartbeat! Time will fly and before you know it it will be time for the next US. Hugs and congrats!
Hi ladies I take 40mg in the morning and 30mg at night. It's really comforting to know there are others out there, I'm pretty new to the whole lovenox scene. I started the shots in November when I found out I was pregnant but that one sadly ended ectopic. I am happy to report I got a BFP yesterday and I welcomed those little needles back with open arms :-)
How's everyone doing? I got my first awesome bruise this weekend, giving myself a shot in the bathroom at the restaurant where my sister was having her birthday party. Apparently I'm only good at these injections at home
Hehe I have a lingering huge bruise from weeks ago, it is right in the front too made for a very painful u/s last time. I have switched to just alternating sides sand leaving my front area alone!
I am glad my husband does most of my injections, my boobs are getting too big to see around >.<
Hey ladies, sorry I haven't been on in a while. I have been struck with morning/all day sickness. Mostly dry heaves but last night the fun stuff finally came out. I think i'm going to talk to my doctor on Monday about some medicine. I have been trying Preggie Pops but instead of not puking, I just have a cut up roof of my mouth. Any other remedies I should try? I am hoping this doesn't last too long.. :-&
Anyone else feel like the bigger their belly is getting the more worried you are to poke the baby with your injection? I swear it gets me every time! I know it is irrational, but I can't help but picture them so close these days.
P.S. My twins looked like grains of rice at 6 week but still so cool to see the little heartbeats!
Sarah I am sorry you are having bad morning/all day sickness. My first 15 weeks were like that and I finally had to ask for zofran and it was amazing as I felt better and could function. Bees knees- I feel the same way I am 37 weeks and it is getting harder to find places to inject and my husband always thinks it is going to hit the baby. Lol I assured him it won't
On another note anyone that has switched to heparin from lovenox did you have any trouble with dosing? I have been on it for two weeks. The first week I was at 5,000units twice a day and after the Dr tested my levels they were too low so they increased to 7,500 units twice a day and it was checked again today and it was still low so now I am up to 10,000 units twice a day. Is it harder to adjust to the heparin?
@BeesKnees181 - can you do the injections in your love handles? That's where they have me doing mine - it's a little interesting to reach, but the skin is much less tight.
@sarahnoelle88 - I found that Unisom really helped me with the all day sickness - if I took half of one at night, I didn't feel sick the next day. Might be worth a try?
Thanks for the advise ladies. I will definitely bring it up with my doctor on Monday. It's getting hard to function when I have to run to a toilet or grab a trash can 10 times a day.
I still don't have a belly but I would be scared to poke the baby too! Haha I know they don't go that deep but when my friends were ready to pop it seemed like the baby was just under a thin layer of skin. I'm looking forward to getting a baby bump but worried it will be harder to do injections.
My doctor told me not to inject in my belly because of the baby, but I am 33 weeks so my belly is big. My husband injects me in the back of my arms and the top of my thighs. Ugh. I hope my blood clot goes away. It's so scary. This medication better be working!
Love handles is what I do too, well my husband does. I don't know how I would get through this without him
My husband refuses to inject me because I thought it would be funny to let out a bloodcurdling scream right when he was about to insert the needle a couple weeks ago. Scared him half to death. It seriously was worth it for the look on his face, but now I'm my sole injector.
I have a guilty question... I usually do my injection as soon as I get out of the shower but sometimes I forget (or don't shower and forget) But I always remember at night before I go to bed and take it then. But then I get stuck on the 'no I cant do another injection now because I just did it last night" and get out of my routine. Anyone else have this prop? Do they need to be spaced apart in similar incremental hours or not so much?

They told me to aim for every 12 hours - I set up a reminder on my phone that goes off at 7am and 7pm, so I try to keep it within 15 mins before or after that time.

Brilliant! An alarm! Why couldn't I think of that...
I do the same thing. I set an alarm for 7am and 7pm. I even have a little bag I carry with me incase we are out and about so I can do my shot anywhere. Funny story I left for work the other day and thought I had enough time to get to work and do my shot but traffic was so bad it was like a parking lot. I had to do my shot in the car and the guy in the car next to me couldn't stop starring at me. God only knows what he was thinking I was doing.
Grr the pharmacy did not have my lovanox in stock and apparently did not feel the need to let me know this! Good thing I have some old ones for back up *sigh*
I have switched to my hip fat for injections. Thanks to my genetics and current love of double stuff oreo's, I can find plenty of surface area for my shots there My hubby would not even come to close to giving me a shot. He would probably faint.
@sarahnoelle88 --->>>Have you tried Solaray's Ginger Trips lozenges? They helped me through my worst morning sickness days in the first tri...they taste kind of strange, but I think it is all the extra Vitamin B that helps to take the edge off of feeling super sick.
Hey @megmegs I am doing well. I got some Zofran for my vomiting and it has been helping. Everything went well at my last appointment. Baby has already tripled in size! Feels good to see the little heart beat each time. My next appointment is March 4th and I will be 10 weeks then. Getting marks with my injections again but not too bad, only have one other bruise. How are you doing?
@megmegs Yeah they get it in a few days later, got it set up with auto fill now so they won't be out again.
On a more happy note, injecting on the back of my arms is heaven (okay maybe not really heaven but not he'll like the belly!). No bruises, a lot less pain during injections, no funny bumps for days!
Not sure I could go those without the husband but if you have help try it
Hi girls - Is anyone else here with an active clot? I have talked to my doctors and I have to go into labor on Lovenox and I am scared out of my mind -- No epi allowed so I will either have to go natural or go under general anesthesia if I need a C-section which I'm praying I don't.
@alohamel How come they aren't switching you? Will the heparin not break up a clot? That can be really scary knowing you might have to go natural for birth.
@alohamel - I have an active clot in my leg. What was the reason they gave you for not switching to heparin a few weeks before? Could you talk to a different doctor?

Thanks for the suggestions, will ask my ob!

@aademoas that is too funny!
I only have to do it once pr day so right before bed works great.
