Tuesday Symptom Check-in

edited February 2014 in June 2014 Moms
Any symptoms welcome since I don't want to be a SS.

Anyone feeling less movement? I don't know for sure the last time I felt the baby. I didn't feel him yesterday and there was possible movement this morning but not really sure since it wasn't defined that well. I know it is early for kick counts and movement but he'd been a moving machine prior to this so it is freaking me out a tad. I know I sound like a FTM but anyone else having a dry spell? It is possible that he's just in a weird spot right now since he is so small still? The things that usually work to get him to move aren't working. I am sure everything is fine but other people saying they went through the same thing will help reassure my over anxious brain.

Re: Tuesday Symptom Check-in

  • Good morning. No school again for me. So sick of snow!!!

The one symptom that really bothers me is the burning sensation I get in my left outer thigh. Has not been too bad but last night. oMG. It hurt so bad.

Has anyone else had this? I am going to talk to my Dr next week but from what I have read it can be a symptom.

Between my burning thigh and my hand falling asleep and waking up in the middle of the night all is good. Lol

I will be 23 weeks tomorrow and I still don't really feel her move. I have some twinges once in awhile but nothing that I can say that it is her. So can't wait to feel her really move.

  • @SecondTimeinMSU  This happened to me a couple weeks ago. Nothing I did or ate that normally makes her move was helping. After 3 days I called my DR and she had me come in. They checked and LO was moving around and my DR said everything was fine. She did tell me when they are small and have a lot more room to move around they will sometimes turn themselves in certain positions where it is hard to feel anything. If you are worried I would go into the DR just in case. That is what they are there for.

I have an overwhelming depressed feeling that I can't shake. And I ate a grape yesterday and haven't been able to keep anything in since ... which is awesome because I am not having constipation issues but GEEZ ... I feel like I live in the bathroom :(

  • @dragonfly711 Do you think the burning could be caused by a cramp of some kind? I know I tend to get more cramps especially at night and so I try to drink extra before bed even though I have to wake to pee more

Thanks for all the reassurance. I am thinking maybe he's gone to chill in a breech position for this time period like DS did. I hope everyone's stomach issues get better, though in my experience the only 100% cure is having the baby. I ate like a 15 year old boy at the hospital when I had DS since my stomach was finally free of all of its issues.

  • @secondtimeinmsu, I think he's probably just chilling out in there. I sometimes feel baby girl all day having a party, and some days she's just sleeping all day. It comes and goes, still.

  • @KrystaJ - my night sweats are out of control!  I wake up covered in sweat and I feel like I have to change the sheets.  I think they've gotten worse since I started sleeping with the Snoogle.

I also noticed that my abs are separating :(

@flojo973 mine are too :( I'm going to physical therapy and had to scale my workouts back. I'm also about to start this Prenatal Core Training 6-week Online Program (second one down). So can let you know how it goes.

Still having period pain like cramping. It's very mild and intermittent but it's been 5 days now. Also feeling very heavy in the pelvic/vag area... I guess it's because I'm carrying quite low? Not sure if it's something I should be concerned about.

In good news my crazy appetite finally let up and I'm now just eating like a normal hungry pregnant woman. Not some sort of wild beast.

  • Sorry to hear about everyone's aches and pains!  I can totally relate to the achy hips and restless nights still!!!  I wake up every single morning between 3:30-4:30am to pee and then can't get myself back to sleep- tossing and turning cause of my super achy sides/hips.

Wanted to ask others about this one though... I'm 24w3d and for the past week or so, I've noticed that often after eating a small meal, particularly ones that are on the sweet side (ie: maple flavor oatmeal or a big glass of OJ), I feel REALLY gross after, like light headed, suddenly overheated and woozy...  is this a potential sign of GD? My glucose test is next week so we'll see then, but I've never had such a hard time digesting and processing basic sugars before. Is this a typical prego thing I'm not aware of? Can anyone relate?

@KrystaJ - I think I might have to stop sleeping with the Snoogle although I really like it.  As for the ab thing, you can google videos of how to spot diastisis recti.  I noticed when I was laying down and I engaged my abs to get up off the couch.  It looks an upside-down V is popping out and running down the middle of my stomach.

@kettlebabe - yes please keep me posted on that training program!  I was wondering if there were things I could do during pregnancy to keep it from getting worse or if I'd have to wait until after the baby to try to rehab it.  I also have been having period like cramping and heaviness.  I think I'm also carrying low and that baby is going through a growth spurt these weeks (23-27ish) and that may be why.

  • I have been having a terrible time sleeping... the last two nights have been miserable.

The only other thing I have noticed is that I am hot ALL THE TIME!  DH is usually the warm one, while I freeze to death... but lately I can't even have the heater on in the car or I am dying of sweat.  Poor guy just keeps saying, "But it's so cold"  Thank goodness for being pregnant while it's cold outside!

  • Leg swelling. Oh man do I have giant calves and cankles by the end of the day! Been trying to do things to make it go down throughout the day but nothing is working except elevating when I get home.

@flojo973 I've been doing a lot of reading over the past few weeks and it looks like there's a lot you can do. I'm excited to get started and will report back :)

@lizardbreath14 it's normal to have some separation of your abs when pregnant. The connective tissue softens to make room for your belly to grow. But if you do a lot of core work (crunches, planks, twists, push ups) the pressure from those excercises can stretch the connective tissue too far and you end up with a diastasis recti (abdominal muscle separation) that doesn't go back on it's own after you deliver.

Postpartum it's responsible for a weak core, incontinence and the 'mummy tummy' that won't go away with diet and traditional exercise.

    More info here: https://www.mamalionstrong.com/diastasis-recti-questions-answers/

@lizardbreath14 - its fairly common.  From what I've read it happens to about 1 in 3 women during pregnancy, to varying degrees.  It's not necessarily bad but can mean that your back is more unsupported since your abs are weakened, so you may have more back pain.  Fun stuff!

ETA:  It totally freaks me out too but I can't stop looking at it!

  • Hi girls, I'm feeling good but have noticed an increase in (gross)discharge which is normal from what I've read but can't help wondering how you 100 percent know it's not the mucous plug. I've had 2 previous losses so I know I can be paranoid but anyone else relate to this? Or is it too personal and have I totally let myself down???

Also just wanted to add that last week I had a day where I noticed very little movement but by the next day he was back to normal, have to remind myself that if the bub is kicking towards the back I won't feel it.
  • @skamber  My DH brought home some Bio Oil when I was complaining about all the itchiness. That stuff works amazing. I no longer itch and it helps with the appearance of stretch marks. May want to try it out if you haven't already.

  • @secondtimeinmsu my LO moves in waves. When there is movement its crazy active.
When there isn't it is kind of scary.

    For me today its heartburn.

I'm also noticing shortness of breath. That's new.

And its not a new symptom but i hope to find out lab results for stomach issues this week. So far the liver related ones are a little high. Dr google says it could be blood transfusion related, and i have gotten 2 Rhogam shots so far. Am going to assume it is that until otherwise. I should not be allowed to see my labs before talking to drs.

Being with my LO rocks! DD born 6/13/14.

  • I am still having pain in my right rib. It often goes numb when the pain starts. I Googled and now I am freaked out; good thing I have an appointment today. I have a lot of gas at night..I am told by the H that it's bad.

Little guy is super active and boxes my bladder and cervix...super comfortable.

  • After yesterday's loss, I'm starting to freak out about the discharge I've been having. I know discharge is totally normal, and I feel him kicking around, so I'm sure it's ok. I have an US scheduled on Thursday anyways, so I really need to calm my nerves. I'll just keep wearing panty liners for now!

  • @flojo973 - I noticed my abs separating too!! It made me sad in a way... took a long time to get them. But it also freaked me out a bit. Crazy to be able to see it!!

Prior to being pregnant I had horrible spider veins. I am very pale and the veins are very dark purple. I spent the $$ last year and had them all blasted away. When I went to put my socks on this morning, I noticed that I have a huge one on the calf of my right leg. It literally looks like a spider web and takes up my whole calf. I knew that there was a chance they'd come back with pregnancy but I am devastated. I am super self-conscious about wear skirts / dresses / shorts and wonder if the treatment is safe to do while pg. I'm also really hoping that it's just this one that surfaces.

I am pretty sure he kicked me one good time this morning so maybe just a lazy day

@hazeldublin nothing is too gross to discuss among pregnant women it is part of the territory. But to answer the question yeah I have a lot of discharge too. It kinda comes in waves but when it is gets bad it can be really gross and heavy so try not to worry. I always say the first sign I was in labor with DS was my water breaking but looking back I think I probably did lose the mucus plug and didn't realize it. When I went to bed that night I wiped and there was a little bit of blood mixed in with the discharge. At the time I decided not to stress since I was seeing the dr first thing in the morning but looking back I think that is what it was. So unless you see blood mixed in with it then I wouldn't stress about it at this point since discharge is totally normal

  • @SecondTimeinMSU thanks so much for the reassurance, I think I'm my own worst enemy sometimes, it's hard but I'm going to have to stop overthinking everything x
  • Feeling really tired, like all the freakin time. No energy for anything and its getting frustrating. Also so done with work, done done done. Can't wait for June to get here already so I can enjoy my year at home with my kidlets. I have also noticed my discharge is kind of yellowish ( I know TMI) but no other signs of infection and feeling good other than exhausted. I am going to ask my doc about it Friday at my check up but in the mean time any ladies have any experience with this? image

@hazeldublin I think overthinking everything is part of the territory too. It doesn't stop at pregnancy every step of the way in parenting I am wondering if I am making the right decisions even though DS is a really good little boy I can't help but stress

Will talk to my Dr next week.  It is not too bad all the time but OMG last night I went to stretch my leg out and OMG the burning was horrible.  Thank gosh it does not last long but long enough to be nervous it is going to happen again.  Only happens at night for me so far, thank gosh, hope it does not get worse.

Yeah I try not to drink too much before bed since I already get up once at night and usually can't get back to sleep after.  I am not going to complain though, if baby is healthy that is all that I care about!!! :)

Me too! thanks for responding @hazeldublin. I have checked it out online as well and most of what I found said that it can be totally normal unless you are having other symptoms of infection like it smells nasty or you're really itchy etc.

I have this every now and then like baby is using my cervix like a trampoline, so uncomfortable only rivaled by sharp pains straight up my who ha

    :((
  • My OB gave me a talk the last appt about really not hesitating to call if I feel ANY regular contractions/things that may be contractions since PTL is so common for twins. He told me to "banish" the phrase "Braxton Hicks" from my vocabulary because he does not want me to dismiss something that is "real."  So needless to say, I have been super paranoid by everything I feel.  The babies have been moving a TON and sometimes my belly gets so hard from their positions that I think I am having contractions.  Last night they most have been totally flipping or rolling, because I felt my belly get SO hard!  But it was definitely movement :-).

  • Been having horrible sharp pains in my right hip. It's not RLP, it feels more like it is the actually bone. It's annoying to say the least.

I've also got heartburn and a nagging achey cramping the past two days. Plus I'm tired and worn out all the time with nothing helping it.

  • I think I'm carrying pretty low and the baby must be right on my bladder. I got up 7 times to pee last night in a 7 hour span....3 times before I could even fall asleep. Each time I'm actually peeing too, not just squeaking some drops out. So annoying. Setting a rule of no liquids after 6pm.

I have also been having crazy braxton hicks already. Nothing consistent or painful but several a day. Way earlier then I had them with DD.

My guy is super low. At first the dr was worried that my fluid was low or my cervix was short. Neither were true for me. He has just nestled in super low. His head is literally on my cervix. As long as my cervix stays long and doesn't shorten too soon they aren't worried. Doctor said he thinks baby is setting me up for an easy delivery. One can only hope.
