S/O all the sleep threads. Your sleep.

When ever I am sleeping (when I get too) I am dead to the world. It is like I'm in a coma, with one exception dd. She can grunt and I'm up and flying down the hall before I know my feet have hit the floor. DH has tried many times in the past few weeks to wake me for various reasons. He says he shakes me, calls my name, and has even pinched me and I don't move. It seems the only thing that will wake me is dd.
Has anyone else noticed this happening?

  • I've always been a light sleeper.  It is rare that I sleep through noise.

  • Light sleeper here too, but really light with DS. If he doesn't wake at his normal times I wake up anyway and wonder what is going on. So much for getting extra sleep when he does decide to be nice to me!

  • If I know Im the one that needs to wake up for DS I sleep very light.  But if I know DH is on the next "shift" Im dead to the world.

  • I'm a really heavy sleeper. I wake up when I hear Cece, but I would never trust myself to bed share. DH is a heavy sleeper too.

  • I've always been a light sleeper, my sleep lately had seriously sucked. DD is rolling over at night so when she's grunting and squirming I can hear everything. And she does this thing where she'll sorta cry, so I get up to get her and as soon as I get up she quits. Then I lay down and she does it again. So I lay down and wait for it to pass but she keeps crying so I get up again and she stops. Sometimes I swear she's doing it on purpose.

It is bad if I say I'm happy to read this?? Because Georgia does the same thing! So frustrating!

  • So it's a mixed bag.

I've never been a light or a heavy sleeper. And if DD is making noise I can not sleep period. DH used to take her for a shift but if she started making noise I was up anyway. Now he can't lift her because of weight restrictions from surgery so I do the wake ups etc. he just thinks it is insane I won't wake up for him no matter what he does, but if she farts I'm heading in to smell it.

I'm right there with you, OP. I can sleep through ANYTHING, but one whimper of DD, and I am awake. So crazy! Eta: autocorrect fail

  • Before DS I could sleep dead to the world for 12 hours straight without waking. Now I'm the lightest sleeper ever. I know I'll never sleep like that again!

  • I'm kind of in between.  If I'm super tired, I might sleep through DH or one of the dogs getting up. There are other times when the slightest noise or movement wakes me. For the most part though, I'll wake up if something is going on, but it can take awhile before I'm conscious enough to realize that I'm awake. Not sure if that makes sense.

  • Well. Once DD wakes up the first time, I hold her the rest if the night. Well. I'm not really holding her as much as she is lying with her mouth pressed against my boob. Lol. But as much as I love my baby, I'm not a big fan of it because I don't sleep well that way. I'm so intuned with her every breath that I sleep much lighter.

  • I have always been a heavy sleeper, but now any sound from DS and I am awake.  I still can sleep thru anything else.
In the past I actually slept thru lighting hitting a tree in the back yard.

I'm the same way. Pretty much dead to the world unless I hear Kenzie on the monitor.

    Same here.
    Me too.
