Cloth Diapering

What's the most you've paid?

As I'm scrolling through my FB newsfeed I see an auction on Sweet Southern Bums. The price is currently at $200. Apparently one of the high bidders won the last auction...final price $2,025. Yes, TWO THOUSAND! O.M.G. And, that was her first SSB diaper. So what is the most you have paid for a single diaper?

I bought Little Butts for $28, I think (?). I just can't do more than that for one diaper.

  • I think $27 for S'Bish fitteds.  Most of my stash is in the $17-$28 range... except for my prefolds

  • $42 for a TT, but I mostly have covers and prefolds or snap-in inserts, so my stash is on the cheaper side for individual diapers. Though when you have as many covers and inserts as I do, it hardly seems like I've taken the less expensive route.

I can't even imagine spending that much. These people do know that diapers are for catching pee and poop right? Don't get me wrong, I love a cute print but 2k is nuts. Seriously.

I've paid retail for new BG so around $18 or so.

  • I still remember Goodmama's going for 300+ on Spots Corner back in their hay day. Usually they were the rarer prints. Some people truly do collect certain diapers. However, for this it sounds like a charity thing. Which is what I've seen people do with wrap conversion Tula's. Sure, they retail for 350$, but I've seen those auction  for over a grand.

  • I bought a Tots Bots Royal Flush in an auction. It ended up being about 3 times the amount that Tots Bots usually sells for. I liked it so much I bought (a normal priced) TotsBots diaper. I didn't go into the auction planning on spending that much... but it could have been worse. I can see someone spending a lot at a charity auction.
  • I paid retail for a RaR Quinn (so about $26).

I also had a friend make some woolies for G, which averaged out to about $35/pair.

  • I spent $37 on a Sbish collegiate fitted. My husband was happy about a UT diaper, but I don't the he knew out much I spent. ;)

I couldn't find the auction but others were talking about it on her page. I don't think it was a charity auction. I just googled it on my phone and there's a post on Dirty Diaper Laundry FB page talking about it. The diaper is similar to this one but was camo.

  • I paid $140 for a lot of five BG Artist diapers, but sold/traded off three of them and made some of it back. The two I kept I paid in the $40 range for though. Other than that, I've never paid more than $17 or so, and got most of mine used/in sales for more like $12-$14. So I suppose it could be worse.

  • I think may the full price Simplex I bought for $23 on Amazon might be the most expensive.

And no, the $2k diaper wasn't for charity. the lady who bought it wants to take her kid to a Luke Bryan concert in it this summer. o_O
  • I have a hard time thinking about paying more than $30 for a diaper.  I prefer to keep it under $20 a diaper.  So far the only diaper I've spent more than $20 on was a SoftBums Echo ($21.95 for just the shell, then 7.95 for the OS&mini insert to go in it).  But I realize I may need to spend more later on for a good overnight solution as my LO gets older.
I prefer cute prints when the cost is the same as a solid but don't see the point in paying big bucks for a "limited print" diaper that catches the poop and pee the same as the cheaper diaper.
That said I don't mind paying (a reasonable amount) more for a diaper that works better.  Better to buy a more expensive diaper that fits well and will last for multiple children, than multiple cheapies that leak and need to be replaced.
