My insurance covers a new breast pump for me for this pregnancy with a prescription from my OB. It would be the Medela Pump in Style. I already have a Medela Freestyle that I bought when Anna was born and it works great.
My best friend had her first baby in December and she just returned to work and she was telling me how much trouble she was having pumping (lots of pain, not being able to fully empty her breasts, therefore not keeping up with baby's needs). She currently has an Avent pump that doesn't seem to be very high quality. Her husband is in the army and so they have Tricare insurance which doesn't cover breast pumps - a major WTF to me, shouldn't our military's insurance be required to follow the new rules?!
My question - would you get the new pump from insurance and then give it to a friend? I think the Medela is a much better pump and hopefully that would help her out some, but I feel kind of bad taking advantage of my insurance. WWJ12D?
