Emotional Mess

So my mom just left after being here for the birth and to help pp. I cannot stop crying!!!! Idk if its the post preg hormone change catching up or what but I'm an emotional wreck. I don't really feel depressed or anything just exhausted and sad she is gone. Normal?

Re: Emotional Mess

  • Totally normal. You just gave birth and your nursing. Your hormones are so unbalanced right now. Also you are going to miss your mom its okay and normal to cry.

Plus your exhausted. Cut yourself some sex

  • HAHAHAHA @minnesotamomma91 she should cut herself some sex? Made me giggle.

Anyway, yes, it's all totally normal. I cried a LOT pp and I live with family and see them all the time.

  • @Roxalot where the fuck is my brain? I meant slack. Apparentley i shouldnt be discussing sex and bumping at the same time.

Also sex right now. Bad idea. Big gaping hole in uterus.

  • I seriously almost peed myself laughing when I saw that! I knew what you meant, though, but I definitely couldn't not say something ;) LOL

  • How are you feeling?
  • Give it time and don't be afraid to step back for a few.  It's SO exhausting being a new momma.  I'm sure your own momma is just a phone call away!
  • That is TOTALLY normal. I used to cry over every single little thing when my DD was a newborn. Even the music on her swing would make me bawl and I didn't even know why!

  • After spending 4 days with DD and listening to all her musical/talking toys I was ready to bawl yesterday myself.  I love my kid to death but I'm not sure I'm SAHM material.  And she had me up every stinking morning by 7.  Little turd.
  • @tig954 Oh don't I know how that feels!!

@eg214 Do keep an eye on your feelings and emotions though...if you find yourself getting cranky/irritable and feeling depressed and it lasts longer than the first few months don't wait to tell your doctor. I had PPD and I waited TWO YEARS (at which time it had just become depression) before I got help and I wish I hadn't put it off that long.

  • I'm doing okay. LO is acting like she has colic. She's eating CONSTANTLY and crying when she's not at the boob or asleep. She is fighting sleep hardcore so trying to nurse to sleep. Figuring out that swinging her like crazy in my arms like her swing helps put her to sleep. Feeling like I'm never going to get enough rest. I know this is temporary but it SUCKS. My dad came in this week so I'm glad he's here. Just pooped out. Wish the father of my child (not the real one) was someone I loved and was in a relationship with who was good to me so he'd be around to help. I could use it but it is what it is. We'll be stronger and better off in the end :)

  • It sucks that babies can't tell you what's wrong. My little brother cried constantly for a couple years and had digestive problems. Now as an adult looking back I wonder if my mom was eating foods he couldn't tolerate because she was BFing him.

I hadnt even thought of that! I had stopped eating spicy food while pregnant because of the heart burn, but i had to give up caffiene while nursing cause it bothered ds.

One of my sisters is nursing and she is gluten free and lactose free because her son wont sleep and either doesnt poop or has poopslosions for days if he has gluten or lactose. Plua he gets crazy fussy. Good thought @gamera3000

  • Shit, I didn't think about that either! Caffeine made DD almost intolerably upset. And broccoli.

  • Yeah that's what sucks about allergies and intolerances. It could literally be anything or nothing. :/ I used to work at an allergy clinic and eliminating foods and the reintroducing them was even more foolproof than skin and blood tests.
