I had a hard day. DH is in the midst of the "it gets worse before it gets better" stage of his tonsillectomy recovery, so he slept most of the day. That left me alone with a teething toddler who refused to be more than four inches from my side all day. C is exhausting during her best moments, and leaves me feeling flat out during her worst. Add the fact that I'm growing Mr. Charlie, and, well, I was at my wits end by the end of the day.
Then I realized I had two choices. 1, try to keep my distance and retain my personal space, and deal with listening to whines from dinner until bedtime. 2, embrace the clingy and have fun with a happy toddler because Momma was right there and smiling.
I chose 2. We took a bubble bath together, so ZERO personal space, plus someone pawing at my boobs and staring at my totally unkempt hair down there in wonder. It was fabulous. She got a huge kick out of "washing" Charlie, which consisted of rubbing bubbles all over my stomach, in between chatting with me and blowing me kisses. She was totally content to sit in the tiny space left to her in the bath after I decided to lie down, as long as she was between my legs and not squished to one side. She was happy, I was relaxing in the tub, DH got a few more moments of peace. For 40 minutes, everyone in the house was relaxed. There will be fewer and fewer of these moments, both as Charlie arrives and as she grows up. Sometimes, giving in is better than holding out. She's sleeping now, so I have my space, and it's better and more enjoyable for the fact that I put a happy baby to bed.
And, to make it a true AW post, here is a photo of my beauty with her faux-hawk

. It's a little blurry because she never stops moving!
Re: AW/STM Post: Embrace the Clingy Moments
My little guy can be so cuddly sometimes and it just melts my heart.

CHC arrived 6/2/14
I grew up in a family of 8. My mom NEVER had personal space or privacy but loved spending time with us. Cue cheesy Full House music for a sentimental moment. Dammit I need to learn how to Gif.
