March 2014 Moms

Your daily accomplishment - Sunday edition

I skipped yesterday because people were still commenting on the original thread.

Today I:

Made whoopie pies from scratch to bring to a friend's house for dinner tonight.

And I sorted through all of the hand-me-downs and new clothes by actual size rather than tag for washstravaganza 2014, which will commence tomorrow.

Go!

RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.

  • Well it's Monday here and I already got up, made breakfast for myself, had a shower, helped DS pack his school bag, drove DS to school, took his ipad to his tchr to be signed in and drove home.
    Currently planted on couch.
  • I went to church, then went to the mall and walked around for two hours buying makeup and a few outfits for LO. My cankles are now in full force. It's me, water and the recliner for the rest of the day ;)

  • Went grocery shopping with hubby but it was seriously miserable. After 5 minutes of walking I literally contemplated just sitting on the floor because my feet have never hurt so bad in my life. I was trying not to cry from the pain the whole time. I feel sorry for us all :(

  • DH and I went to BRU, Target, World Market and Sams today; then had sushi for a late lunch. Then it was home to hang up art in the nursery and upstairs hallway; now watching Olympics and contemplating a nap

  • My little boy is 17 days old and I had my first time away from him today. DH and I went to BRU and Target (mainly for things for the baby) while my mom watched him. He was born 4 1/2 weeks early and the pedi at the hospital said not to take him to public places until 6 weeks past his due date or else he would've been with us.
  • I managed to do 3 loads of laundry with two more to go. I deep cleaned my master bath and got dh to help clean our room. I repacked my hospital bag and Matthews diaper bag (I will probably do this like 3 more times) and put away most of the stuff I got at my shower yesterday. I did have a minor panic attack because I didn't have as big a shower as I thought so I still have tons of things to get like bottles and such. It's not much but we are broke this month due to paying for dh's classes and his dad's internet set-up. Oh I almost forgot we installed the car seat bases in our cars. Pretty productive day :). If it's warm enough tomorrow I'm going swimming... Random but I'm excited so I needed to share. Sorry about the formatting I'm on my iPad.

  • @bearsbearsbears, I've actually never been downhill skiing! I really love cross-country too, though, because I love being out in nature and just gliding along and stopping whenever I like to look at the trees or the birds or the animal tracks or whatever catches my eye....

I hadn't been out at all this winter because I wanted to go with MH and he kept going on these Epic Ski Adventures like skiing between mountains , skiing around lakes, going for miles at a time..... I was lucky to get him doing something sedate today!

Maybe you can plan a ski trip one year. You usually make a trip to the mountains for YH's birthday in December, right? Is there snow where you go?

  • We go in the mountains of NC in December and usually there isn't snow (or very limited amounts).  I don't think people really cross-country ski around here, so I don't even know where I could rent skis.  One year when I'm not so pregly and the kids aren't so small, I'll have to think about finding a fun active winter trip with cross-country skiing.

    Vermont! :D

  • I cleaned up B's toys, changed all his bedding after his poop-splotion this morning and I went to my IL's for dinner and didn't kill anyone!

  • I went to Walmart and Target to stock up on supplies our hedgehogs need while we're in the hospital and for the first few weeks at home with the baby.

Went to a friends gender reveal party (it's a boy!) The just cut the little mans fingernails as he had scratched his own face. Pinched the skin (no blood) but it made him cry and i had to hold back my own tears :( I hate my baby crying in pain! I now get what my mum said about hating seeing me in pain!!!
Since this was something that nobody mentioned, I wanted to say it for other moms too. You really shouldn't cut their nails at this age they are still attached to the skin as you found out. If you can't peel it off just keep their hand in those little mitts. Sorry you went through that.

Oops forgot you could just file them also, less stress too.

  • I got the baby swing out and set up, and we managed to set up the infant seat also. What a pain trying to rearrange two seats.

  • I went skiing!! Don't flame---it was Cross-country, not downhill, on the VERY FLAT wetland behind my house, with lots of fluffy powder to cushion me if I fell. Went with MH and one of my besties. ....in that last photo my arm is at a suuuuuper awkward angle and makes my ass look like it has its own zip code. Ah well!
I am sooooooo jealous! When I went home (Alaska) in November, my mom wouldn't let me go with her because she didn't think it was safe :( Although, I skied competitively in high school so she probably just thought I wouldn't be able to take it easy. And NM doesn't really have cross country skiing, at least not near us.

My accomplishment: took the dog for a couple short walks, and got out of bed at a reasonable hour.

  • We were all sorts of productive today! The nursery is totally done, which meant cleaning the floor, putting down the rug, picking up and assembling the glider, hanging shelves, and putting away lots of stuff. Plus, DH put the carseat in! We're getting it done :)  Now, I promise to be worthless on the couch for a couple hours, then to go straight to bed!
