Re: Yes
Pulling up yet?
I've also heard - and this might be total crap - but I've heard that kids that walk early tend to speak a little later, and vice versa. My daughter started at 11 months, and still only says three words - all names.....though she says something that might mean "quack" and I'm pretty sure "ba" means bath...but who can say. "Ba" means lots of things.
In anycase, if you are worried speak to your pediatrician. Is he meeting his other milestones?
So the PT said he needs the therapy but you aren't doing because you don't want to have to pay for it??? Sorry but that's not okay. Especially if your husband makes so much money. My son does PT because he had some weak core muscle tone related to his IUGR. My insurance doesn't cover it so I pay out of pocket for it. It's not cheap and it does put a little strain on us financially but we make it work because he needs the PT. some kids are just slow to reach gross motor milestones, but if there is a muscle weakness, which sounds like might be the case for Z since he isn't cruising and "half asses" his sitting still, he needs PT to strengthen his muscles. It's likely to get worse not better if you don't address it. I hope you might reconsider your decision and do what is best for your child. Not walking yet is okay, but there are some other concerning signs that should be addressed.
Um I'm pretty sure I never said you were a shitty mom. You did however say you didn't get PT for Z because you didn't want to pay for it. That's not ok in my opinion. Not liking a particular PT is another issue. And I am in the medical field.i was trying to encourage you to get a second opinion and let you know PT is helpful. Clearly you are worried or you wouldn't have asked the question. No need to attack me.
You know you can also call other places that offer PT and see if they have cash only discounts and payment plans if they do not take your insurance. Since you do not like the one place that your insurance covers. Also if you get a few sessions with a place/person you like they may be able to give you some exercises or activities to do at home to help you cut cost.
I do think that letting one crappy experience keep you from seek further help/2nd opinions for your son is cutting off your nose to spite your face. It might be time to swallow your pride/hurt/anger and seek out help for him where ever you can find it. And @pobrecita had a good suggestion with Early Intervention.
Have you looked at other OT/PT service providers?
Thanks for y'all's insight.
@persephonerose you cracked me up!
