Question For STM That Did Not Take Maternity Photos

If you didn't take maternity photos for your first, do you find yourself regretting it now?

Last night my MIL said we need to have a photo shoot with me and my belly. I said no, I'm not really interested. However, she kept insisting and said "Well we will see..." I was annoyed, because I said no multiple times.

I then made the mistake of complaining to my husband about it and he thinks I should do it for her to make her happy...but at this point I really don't feel up to it for multiple reasons. I told him he can take maternity photos with her if he wants (she wants to be the photographer, not in the photos).

But it got me thinking, for those that didn't with their first, do you wish you had?

Nope. No regrets. I'm enamored with how I feel being pregnant but I don't need to be reminded of how I look. I'll get newborn photos because those are wonderful.

Ask her to do some newborn photos instead.

I don't regret not getting them done. I have one photo of myself and my niece at my baby shower, and that is good enough for me.

I didn't and I don't regret it at all. Just make sure you have some snapshots of yourself pregnant!

Yah, no. Haha, I'd rather do them myself. She isn't a photographer or anything. She has a decent camera. But I actually have a higher quality one because of the work that I do and she doesn't know how to use it.

Plus she is kind of spazzy and I just think her energy would be off for a new born photo shoot.

She only has two sons, so she has missed out on a lot of the things you get to do with a girl, like prom dress shopping, wedding, etc. So although I do not want to do a shoot at all, I almost want to because I have a fear that I will end up with two boys and miss out on all those opportunities...

Hence, why I may allow her in the L&D room as I may be her only chance as my SIL, based on her culture, probably wont allow anyone in the room except her husband.

I didn't and I don't regret it. Some women feel beautiful when pregnant and want to capture that. I do not. It really depends on you.

I didn't get newborn or maternity photos last time. Def do not regret skipping maternity photos. I am not my most attractive self while pregnant. But I deeply regret not getting newborn photos of my son.

Nope, not even a little. But I feel fat and gross while pregnant, not cute, so I don't want to really document it with professional pictures that will just sit in an album. NB pics, though, definitely worth it!

I didn't with DS and I won't with this one either. I felt super cute with my first so that wasn't part of it either, just didn't seem that vital. I'd rather save that money and get great newborn pics. I just made sure we got some pics of my growing belly and called it good. I pretty much never even look at those.

I did not with my first. I don't regret it. I don't plan to this time either. I don't need pictures of myself. I'd much rather spend the money on newborn photos instead.

Nope. It never interested me because it's NMS. My MIL also thought I should do them but she never pushed it.
She did however pay for this gem.

I didn't and I don't regret it whatsoever either. I was in your same exact boat though, my MiL kept hounding me about how I would regret it and basically made me feel like I didn't care about her or my kid if I didn't do them.

I'm a brat though and when people tell me to do something I generally do the opposite

I looked like the Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters at the end of my first, so I can always just rent that when I want a reminder.

I will not be doing it this round, I'll just find me another character and hope I do reprise the role of the Marshmallow Man.

I didn't do maternity photos, in fact I only have one photo from when I was pregnant with my daughter. I regret it all the time.

I haven't done it with any pregnancy and I don't regret it at all. I took belly pics to put in their albums, that was totally sufficient for me.

I don't regret not doing professional pics, but I didn't really take any others either (no fruit of the week here). I have two really horrible pictures of me a week before I delivered in my PJs when DH was playing with his new phone. I wish I had a few decent candids or something.

I wish I did take some belly pics. I took one (bare belly shot) on XMas but erased it. We were worried that someone would see the pic on my camera. I regret not taking another pic. I was in the hospital having DS a week later.

I am not sure I want to spend the $ on formal Mat Pics. If anything, I will have future SIL take some pics for us.

I did with my first but am not with this pregnancy. Mine were just myself in a nature background. I wore a cute whimsical tank top and jeans, I didn't do any bare belly pics. I'm glad I did it and felt comfortable with my outfit. But I haven't really done anything with the photos other than put some on Facebook and I received some that are just too large to want to hang up. This time, I'll save the money towards newborn pics or family pics later in the year.

I didn't with the twins and wish I had. It just wasn't in the cards with the hospital bedrest. But more than regretting no maternity photos, I regret no newborn photos. The hospital photographer wouldn't allow us to take pictures of the boys together in the same bed (since they were in the NICU) and we didn't have the money to pay a photographer to come out and take pictures of them after they came home. I'm hoping to do both (maternity and newborn photos) with this LO.

I have very few pictures of me when I was pregnant with my first. I did not do maternity photos because we didn't have the money and I didn't have a good camera. It's not a huge deal, but I do wish I had at least done the weekly pictures.

What makes it worse is that she actually wants to take them. Like have our own photo shoot session...if she offered to pay for professional photos I would probably say yes. But the idea of having to have her take them of me is not at all enticing.

This is only my first pregnancy, but I can tell you with 100% certainty that I'm not going to want a formal photo session to remind me of these 9 months-I want to forget how I feel most days and how I look. Also, most maternity photos freak me out.

I didn't take them with DD. Didn't take weekly pics either. This time, still not doing weekly bump pics (no HDBD for me!!) nor am I doing maternity pics. I don't like the way I look.

I had them done the first time and won't do them this time. I feel like it was a waste. I would much rather spend the money on a newborn shoot. I never got any of my maternity pics printed because I didn't feel comfortable putting them up around the house for everyone to see. I'd much rather hang photos of the baby and not my belly.

I did not have any 'formal' ones with DS1, just casual ones some family members snapped here and there along with some selfie belly pics before I got huge. Totally wish I had done at least some non-professional but not casual or candid ones with him but finances were tight. This time I did pose for some after getting glammed up a bit, H took the shots with the nice camera and I loved the way they turned out. Didn't spend a dime on them. You could always do that, especially if someone is offering to be the photog. I wouldnt hesitate to hide them away if you don't like the results. You can even go and get your hair or makeup professionally done before since you are saving $ on the actual pics.

Oh that is awkward. Maybe tell her you'd like her to take them and tell her you have a pinterest board with ideas. Use these (or would she not get it?):
