Bathing suits? GTKY

So I am thinking of the summer because I can't take the winter one more second! What kind of suit are you planning to wear this year? I would love to think I could do a two piece but 2 kids later, I am not sure it's a good ideas.

  • I will a two piece, but post BFing will definitely not be a slinky little triangle top!

  • I choose "one piece;" I like those better than the stupid skirt bottoms they put on bathing suits for plus-sizes. Would I look better with my legs covered? Probably, but I like actually getting in the water and would prefer not taking forever to dry.

  • Never have had a bikini bod, definitely not now... Modest tankini for ease of peeing and double layer of fabric :-)

  • Ummm. Maternity suit. Last summer I rocked a hybrid one piece/swim dress if that's such a thing. It was hot pink and was adorable! First time in a one piece since being a kid and I still felt sexy as hell. :)

  • I have some awesome tattooed halter tops from spencers that I bought last summer and wore to the river and lake with a ruffled swimsuit bottom. I just tried them on and they are saggy, big and weird on me now. Wtf. But yeah, I wear a real clothes top either tank or halter and either boy's shorts or I will wear a swimsuit bottom. Sometimes I really love wearing a short summer dress in the water as well.

I chose one piece but I have a few tankinis that I would wear too. I have a few bikinis I would wear but only if i wasn't with the kids. I am not chasing toddlers around in a bikini.... no thanks. I bought a really cute polka dot halter one piece before I got pregnant last year and I have yet to wear it so I am hoping to fit into it this summer. :-) I probably have about 15 bathing suits.... they are my obsession....

Just needs to be very supportive and real straps. I hate the neck strap it drives me nuts.

  • And I just realized the poll says moderate two piece. I meant modest! Stupid auto correct. Sorry!
  • I just bought a one piece halter from Costco for $20. We just joined a gym with a pool and someday I'll muster up the courage to swim laps.
I have a handful of bikinis but there is NO WAY these bfing tatas are going to fit into the tops. I'd risk having a boob come flying out.

  • I said SS because I will be having my third baby in June so there is no way I'm making a public appearance in any kind of swimsuit this summer. Just not going to happen. If I find myself at a pool or beach I will wear a cover up over a suit and will not be getting in the water. Now I would like to hope that I could rock a two piece next summer but we'll have to see where a third pregnancy and round of breastfeeding leaves me.
  • I voted tankini, because that's what I currently have. However the bottoms are practically falling apart, so I will likely have to get a new one. I haven't decided what next summer's model will be like...a bikini is not completely out of the question...assuming that I can get my snacking habit back under control! ;)

  • I currently only own a modest two piece (short bottoms) but the bottoms are wearing through (too much water sliding maybe). I need a new one by the 2nd weekend in March and am looking at tankinis and one pieces.

  • I voted two piece. That is going to be VERY reliant on how well I stick to my workout plan. I still have about 10 pounds worth of toning left but I'm thinking that I'll make it. Pray for me.

I can't do one pieces because my legs (long)and torso (short) are so un proportionate that I look ridiculous.

  • Swim dress!! I love it! Modest (youth pastor's wife!!) but still super cute. Got it at target last year.

  • one piece. Got two from Targets Spanx collections in December when they were like 70 % off. Still not ready to wear them out in public but hopefully by Summer I will be :)

  • I wear a two piece. I need to find some better tops. I'm going to be huge come summer, due in September, but I'm going to rock the baby belly! :)

Agreed. My extra saggy wrinkly tummy skin is super hot!!! Said no one ever!

  • Where are your c-section scars, people? Mine is so low, if a bikini showed it, it would be showing some other stuff first.

Bikini for sure this summer, to answer the OP's question.

Well mine is crooked- like a diagonal slanting upward like a horribly crooked grin. I'm not sure if my surgeon was drunk or if my stomach was just so distended that it looked straight at the time they cut.

  • Against popular opinion I will be sporting a tiny bikini.  I work hard for my body and I am going to show it off....despite the weird wrinkly skin on my belly.

    I think that's great!

Someone on here described the post partum tummy as scrotum-like in appearance...  Accurate for me.  So I'm going to go ahead and cover that up for the benefit of those around me!

haha yep that was me. It was soooo bad after I lost all my weight. It's looking a little better as My tummy is starting to pop out a bit from being pregnant. I'm actually really looking forward to getting my pregnant belly again so the wrinkly skin stretches back out and becomes smooth again :)

  • Tankini. One pieces have never looked right on me because I have a really long torso. While my body is in bikini condition, I have not been comfortable in them since I had my son 3.5 years ago. They don't provide enough support for my post-bf body, and my stretch marks on my belly stick out like a sore thumb. If you look hard enough, there are some very attractive and supportive tankinis out there. I invested in a Michael korrs one the summer after I had my son and I will keep wearing it until it wears out!
  • I'm looking at the high waist bikini. They are super cute and the bottom comes up above the belly button. It reminds me of pin up.

  • I don't understand tankinis at ALL. I know they're meant to be like a flattering two piece but my most unflattering area is the stomach area that a tankini exposes...

I think those are the skinny people tankinis. I have a "I've birthed and nursed three children in the past three years" tankini which does not show any skin unless I fold it up while I'm alone in the back yard. I like it because I can easily go to the bathroom and still be totally covered the rest of the time.

I need to find me one of these! My hardest thing is going somewhere with my lady friends and not sticking out like a sore thumb with a swimsuit that screams "I'm a mom" lol considering most of them are 23-24 and never had kids.

Yes this exactly -- no skin showing... just a double layer of fabric and the ease of peeing without wriggling out of a wet suit.:-)

I'm old, and one of the last of my friends to have kids, so no worries there... we're all pretty self conscious.  Jordyn, try Everything But Water - they have a zillion brands, styles, etc...

  • Nordstroms had some adorable youthful one pieces online last year that I totally didn't feel momish at all in. My bro in-law even told my sister, "you should get a swimsuit like that." (Totally not in a creepy way) and he was 25/26. I'm trying my luck again this year with them.
