My "little" man is one week old!
I was scheduled for a RCS on 2/6. We checked in, got my IV started, and all the paperwork. My best friend is in the nursing program with me at the hospital I delivered so she was allowed to be in the OR with us for observation. My husband and best friend got their scrubs on and our families gathered around for prayer. DH wasn't allowed in the OR for the spinal but my best friend was so she and I headed back. The OR staff were amazing! They cranked up the music while I got my spinal that I was really nervous about. (I had an epidural with my older son and it was awful). My best friend held my hands as they inserted the spinal. I was surprised that it took so long to place (15-20min) but it began working quickly and it was awesome! I had a fear that I wouldn't be able to feel myself breathing with it and told my anesthesiologist. He informed me that if I felt my fingertips going numb to let them know, they would prop my bed more upright and the spinal wouldn't move up to my chest causing that issue. I did feel my fingertips go numb at one point during the surgery and told them. They lifted me up and the spinal quit moving up! My husband came in next to me smiling and having a good time. This was opposite of my last c-section so he was relieved. I threw up a couple of times throughout surgery but it wasn't that bad, I was still laughing. In the middle of surgery the anesthesiologist told my husband to look because they were about to pull him out. They were all commenting on how much hair he had. When they pulled him out everyone gasped and commented on how huge he was. I couldn't wait to see him! They took him to the warmer for a few minutes then my husband brought him to me. My best friend was crying at this point and was amazed at what she had just seen (she swears she is never having kids but this experience may have changed her mind). I am so in love with my 9lb 15oz baby boy! Here's a few pics for reading all this
