Have
an attention whorey, special snowflakey or just random thoughts that
popped into your head you've been meaning to share? Been pondering the
meaning of life's mysteries and want to share your findings?
Here's your chance! Don't worry, if you miss out there will be a new thread for you to get your salty hoe-ness on Tuesday
In honor of one of the most popular Hallmark Holidays, what are you doing for Valentine's Day? What gifts did you get and what did you get for hubby?
DH has been on storm duty all week (he works for the power company).
Props to him! In spite of my rage and falling tears during our 25-hour outage during the snow and ice last weekend, I really wanted to take the crew on the corner some hot cocoa and freshly baked cookies after they had been working over 8 hours to get our power restored. Then I realized this was not feasible since I had no power, but it was also 4:00am. It's the thought that counts, right?
Valentine's related. I'm actually cool with everyone here AW-ing their valentine's gifts/plans because we will keep it all to one, maybe two, threads. My Facebook feed, on the other hand, makes me want to poke out my eyes. I am apparently friends with all the AWs the world has ever created.
DH and I are going to dinner tomorrow night for Valentine's Day, but we decided to skip the presents this year. Our anniversary is the 27th, so we will do some little gifts for that instead.
In other news, DH is currently "hobbling" around the house complaining that his back hurts from shoveling. Is it wrong that I feel no sympathy?

My SO and I are saving our valentines for a baby moon instead in a month. He thought he would be nice and take his daughter who is five to daycare for me. Normally she stays home with me but its her party at daycare and she wants to go. He thought I could sleep in and everything.
Well this LO had another plan for mommy. She has been up and moving like crazy since 4 am!! My belly looks like its having seizures. Anyone else ever been woken up and kept awake by their baby?
So now he is taking her to daycare and bringing back breakfast for us to eat before he goes to work.
I did get a valentine from the baby for him. Just a card. Nothing fancy. Maybe a candy bar later if I brave the snow.
H and I never celebrate Valentine's Day but (maybe it's the pregnancy hormones?) I find myself wanting to do something extra nice for him this year. I'm taking a half day to be home with sick DS and I think I'm going to stop at the grocery store and get some seafood for dinner and ingredients to bake him gluten-free brownies.
I also used Valentine's Day as an excuse to buy DS some candy and toys. He's so spoiled.
This morning my DD (almost 2), pulled up my shirt and pulled down my pants enough to see the baby. She said hi baby, hugged my belly and then gave 'baby' a kiss. I am going to soak in her baby love now, before the baby gets here, because I am sure the tune will change when baby comes home...
Last night, DS kept pulling up my shirt to look at my "huge belly" (his words, not mine) and the baby started moving. Every time my belly jumped, DS would smack that spot... it was like a weird version of Whack-a-Mole.
SS: It's super weird how nice people are to you once they know you're pregnant. I must be looking "definitely pregnant," because strangers are smiling at me and holding doors and stuff. WTF. WE REALLY ARE SPESHUL SNOWFLAKES.

This!
My favorite part of this whole experience - everyone loves a pregnant chick! I am one of those people that hates being the center of attention, but actually loves being the center of attention - and being pregnant is the best way to be the princess of the party without it having anything to do with you!
My 5-year anniversary is in Oct, and I told DH that I was hoping for something special this year, like a piece of jewelry to symbolize our family once DS is born and our family is complete. Well, he asked me if he could combine Valentine's Day with our anniversary and give me the gift for V-Day, saying it's something I've always wanted. This morning he gave me a Louis Vuitton, which to me was very clearly fake, and even though he bought it from a 'discount' site, the poor guy thought it was real. Plus it was ugly, and impratical since I'll be carrying a diaper bag for a while anyways. It was expensive nd I doubt we can return it.
I gave him a bottle of his favorite whiskey, which at this point I may have some of. Oh, and I'm still sick and DH has to work tonight so we won't really get to celebrate.
After 3 failed Clomid+TI cycles, DD was conceived with IUI#1
DH and I both have to work tonight Every year we ask each other if we should request off so we can do something and every year we both decide no, and every year I regret it. Our first Valentine's Day together he spent vomiting from a stomach virus, so I guess it's never held a special place in either of our hearts hahahaha
@bebemac - you are my favorite poster today. I LOVE the cockroaches video. The whole thing is hilarious. Also I'm now dying for @skyangelmommy to come back and regale us with all her glory that is Valentine's Day.
We celebrated yesterday and I got a nice dinner date with my husband, which is hard to come by with 3 little ones at home. We also went for a run in the park that morning. Perfect day!
My V Day AW/SS- I got this edible arrangement on Wednesday. It was delish! Big afternoon plans for sure (insert sarcasm) - new military ID card, OB check, early dinner (like 4:30) then off to target to start a registry to get my $20 gift card.
Side note, I really don't care for Valentine's Day. It's such a commercial Hallmark day. But on that same note, if The Hubs wants to spoil me, I'm not gonna stop him ;-)
We don't do gifts for any occasion other than Christmas, so we made dinner reservations for tomorrow (did this last weekend and all the times for tonight were already booked). So tonight I'm finally getting around to picking up some fresh tuna, which has been on my 'menu' for weeks and I never feel like going to Whole Foods.
Also, H baked me some peanut butter cake last night, which I brought for breakfast today ;-p. I love that he's the 'baker' in our family. (he makes banana nut bread and peanut butter cake...)

I was awake from 2:30 until 5 am because my LO had the hiccups and then was barrel rolling all night. She's doing it again. I wonder if I'll have a natural swimmer lol? It feels like she's doing underwater cartwheels and shiz in there.
June '14 September Siggy challenge- Favorite things about fall
I'm going out for a girls day with my SIL & MIL, then at 4 the three of us are going to my elective u/s and then home for DHs gender reveal Valentines Day/ Anniversary gift! He's on kid duty for our two tots and gonna have a fun day with them and his brothers then cake, gender reveal, etc when I get home. Plus he gave me cash for my Valentine's day/Anniversary present so lots of shopping and what not for me today! Woohoooo! I'm excited! (:
My H and I don't really celebrate V day but he did get me flowers. My son picked out a teddy bear for me that my husband bought for him to give me. We are Making pizza set ups with the kids tonight. I've been sick with a sinus infection all week. It sucks! I had my regular apt yesterday and I'm still measuring 2 weeks ahead. Since my first 2 were born at 38 weeks. Doctor thinks that will happen again! Hoping for a May baby.
So, my husband and I don't really celebrate with gifts or anything, but yesterday I was at the grocery and thought I should at least pick up a card. I had my kids with me, and my son started throwing a fit in the card aisle, so I just grabbed the first husband card I saw without reading it. Turns out, it's a card for a couple in a long distance relationship. Obviously, we aren't. I told him, and he was like:" well, I sent flowers to school, and then realized you didn't have school today." At least we're on the same page.
We don't really celebrate it big, we might head out for a casual family dinner the three of us and I got him some flannel pyjamas..... how romantic hahah.
Anyways, Happy Valentines day everyone!
I've been pretty down because I was pretty sure my husband had nothing planned for today but he surprised me this morning by going to work late and taking us to breakfast. Waffles...YUM!! He said he has a couple little surprises for later in the day so we'll see. I feel like a brat for being secretly pissed at him.

Hilarious. Last year I did something similar and turns out it was a birthday card. I left the sentiment and cut out the birthday part at the bottom (it was one of those cards with the little paper insert thingy--luckily). He was like...uh I think part of my card is missing? oops
I'm thinking I might try to shave for my V-day gift to DH. Also- I keep accidentally saying "Happy Thanksgiving" instead of "Happy Valentine's Day." I'm pretty sure I used to have a brain...
We celebrate every couple years. I got a beautiful bouquet delivered yesterday (I don't work today) with a note that said to be ready at 5:30. I have zero clue what we are doing so I'm excited!
Before he was unexpectedly laid off 2 weeks ago, we were going to have dinner at El Gaucho (a super fancy restaurant here). Now, we are still going to dinner, but not as fancy. Cheesecake Factory, which is my favorite place so it's all good with me!
DH took me out to dinner on Wednesday night because he got his tonsils out yesterday and wanted to do something ahead of time. He organized his parents to watch C and he ordered flowers to have waiting for me on the table! It was super nice of him. I got him his favorite chocolates (ferraro roucher) and a cheesy card (normally I go with funny, but this one was super perfect).
Today, C is at daycare having gf brownies with her classmates during their party and I got to nap from 9-11:30 and it was magical! Yay for staying home to take care of DH...who doesn't need taking care of much at all. We also have a three day weekend all together, so that should be fun .
I don't know if I was also supposed to post something negative/annoying...so here it goes...hubby stayed out way late w coworkers last night because it was a "work dinner" and came home pretty tipsy all while I had to go to a "meet the doctors" event at the hospital by myself...I was the only "single" person there...it was pretty damn annoying! But what am I supposed to do, tell him he can't have a life bc I'm preggo? Sigh...I wish he just knew he can't have a life lol
Re: *~ Friday Special Valentine's Edition AW/SS/Random Thread~*
Glad you guys get to hang!
eta: I also thought I had posted this in FFFC. Today is not my day.
