I definitely enjoy 200 milligrams of caffeine everyday. Should I be cutting back? Today I counted up my milligrams and am at 207... Feeling a little guilty.
7 milligrams over should not stress you out. Also, unless you are performing tests on every beverage, the caffeine amount is an estimate. You are within a 3% range, so I think you should give yourself some grace
Everything in moderation is fine. And going a little over every so often I'm gonna say isn't going to turn your baby into a Velociraptor. I usually have a little something each day- whether it's from my tea, chocolate or I splurge on a full strength soda (don't care for diet). Sometimes more than others but I'm not real concerned since it's not all of the time.
But I do miss my occassional Monster Rehabs when working out...
I drank a full French press this morning and am now being kicked in the bladder repeatedly. I guess thats his way of saying 'Hey there, stop drinking coffee!!'
My OB told me the reasoning behind limiting caffeine is because its a diuretic which is a big no no if your not drinking enough water because it could dehydrate you. So just down some more water and you should be fine:)
Ehhh I don't even measure mine. I was really careful in the 1st tri but that's it. I drink some soda but it's not too bad and the days I eat chocolate, well I don't even count that as caffeine. Think it's going to be just fine!
I drink a min of two cans of soda a day sometimes more sometimes less but the doctor said that was fine because I drinking about a 12 pack of soda a day. So I am sure your alright.
The actual level of caffeine that has been shown to have negative effects on a fetus is something like 15 cups of coffee a day. The "200 mg" popular limit comes from one study that shows absolutely no effects under this number, and this study only focused on miscarriage during the first trimester.
Caffeine is bad for you ONLY if you have high blood pressure. That's where the 200 number comes from. If your BP is low you have nothing to worry about!
I simply cannot live nicely without coffee but try to drink a little less than before or do half decaf. I wouldn't worry about an extra 7mg! I limit myself to between 200-300
I wouldn't worry about it. When I kept getting terrible headaches my OB suggested I chug a mountain dew and take some Tylenol whenever I get one. He didn't seem at all concerned.
I don't measure. In general I try to keep in mind I'm growing a small person and to be aware about what I'm eating and drinking but I don't measure any of it or stress about it much.
I don't count and definitely get some each day (probably 100-200mg), but I try to choose decaf coffee and soda when there is an option. When I get headaches my doctor said caffeine is bound to help.
Like a lot of other PPs, I will sometimes drink a cup of coffee in the morning and a can of Dr Pepper in the afternoon. When and if I feel like it. Somedays I do neither. Its fine in moderation.
i thought this question was a joke. Seriously...207?? WTF? who the hell knows how much you are drinking. unless you have a coffee IV, at this point it does not matter.
I drink a 1/2 decaf grande espresso drink from Starbucks whenever I want to or a cup of iced coffee from the grocery. All is good here. I limit myself to one coffee drink per day and maybe a soda as well a couple times per week. Keeps me sane, awake and not lazy.
I counted up my milligrams and I have 275.23 a day.
That's 1.86 cups of coffee, 5/8th of a cup of earl grey tea and 8.6 squares of 78.2% dark chocolate. All spaced about 5.4 hours apart of course.
At my last appointment with the midwife she said everything sounded great so I think you are probably OK
Edit. But seriously, I have up to 300mg a day and am fine with it. As long as it's not all in one go and your drinking plenty of water I wouldn't stress.
I drink as much caffeine as I feel I need and in no way monitor it at this point in my pregnancy.
THIS
I NEED my morning coffee, and more than just a cup. I also usually need another cup mid afternoon for a little pick me up to get through the rest of the day.

I did the same with DS. He's normal.
I can't fuction without it.
Eta: I'm also pretty certain I never go over 200-250mg/day.
I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.
