I'm 50-50. I don't care anything about the presents though. I more just like the idea of celebrating love or the love you have for someone. I like the romance aspect of Valentine's day.
SS-by the time Valentine's gets here I'm sick of it and all the materialistic girls that come in wanting their guys to spend more on their V day gift than they did for Christmas.
We use it as an excuse to eat out. But no where special or fancy. This year we treated ourselves to a nice breakfast at perkins. We don't do cards/flowers/gifts/etc.
SS! I don't LOVE it but I also don't mind it. I don't care if we do anything. As a matter of fact, Dh and I are due for a date night but decided to wait until Saturday because we want to avoid the chaos Friday. Dh and I don't exchange gifts or cards typically. I did get him a card today but only because they were buy one get one free at Publix . I did buy my 7 year old DD a little stuff animal, card and small box of chocolates as she's really excited about it.
**and this is what pregnancy does to you. I'm on the wrong board....bye july mommas, gotta go back to June!
I don't mind it, but DH will not celebrate it . He sent a barbershop quartet to my door when we were dating in college. Since then I haven't even gotten a card. I guess he decided to go big and never deal with it again .
We never do anything crazy for it. Maybe just go out for dinner if we can. DH used to get me a gift, but now we don't really bother. This weekend my folks are taking DD Saturday night so we'll go see a movie and have dinner, but it's really just a coincidence that they happen to be able to take her Valentine's Day weekend. It's not a big deal to us, but it's a nice excuse for a date night.
Valentines day is sort of nice. DH and I don't get each other anything, every year we order Chinese take-out and watch a crappy romantic comedy. Unfortunately this year I have a nasty case of sinusitis, so I probably won't be very romantic.
I like the possibility of flowers and a nice dinner, but life after kids has turned me into a scorned woman I guess. I'm not going to get all butt hurt if DH doesn't go all out.
We use Valentine's Day as an excuse to eat at our favorite restaurant, and have for five years. No flowers or chocolate this year, which wouldn't bug me except DH brought up my extreme hormones as an issue which makes me wonder if he's going to be able to handle this pregnancy cause I'm pretty sure those aren't going anywhere fast for the next five months. So now I wish he'd done flowers and chocolate to make up for the emotional conversation! Oh well. He did buy me chocolate covered strawberries after for dessert which I sat in the car and devoured in the drivers seat while he stood outside the window - we had two cars since we ended up having to meet up away from home after a long day of work/kids for each of us.
Valentine's Day has a special place in my heart since my dad, who was against celebrating most holidays (long story), would get around 'celebrating' this one by going to the store the day after Valentine's Day and buying the store out of Valentine's Day bears, balloons, and chocolates for my sister and I. Bonus, he would get half off. Always thought the gesture was cute. Definitely made an impression on me along with a special memory.
I guess I should've read this post before posting my Valentine's Day Bump post! Looks like only two of you may actually go out so crossing fingers you'll post your Valentine's Day Bumps any way .
