Just got through 3 days of a hellish cough and cold. Make sure you REST. even if that means taking sick days from work. Otherwise, lots of tea and honey.
I've been taking airborne to keep a cold at bay and its been working pretty good.

For the sudafed, make sure you get the stuff behind the counter (usually back in the pharmacy). The stuff you can get on the shelves has something else in it that the on-call nurse said to avoid when I called about a bad cold ~4 weeks ago. (Sorry that I can't remember exactly what it is.) They needed my driver's license info to buy the plain 30mg sudafed...maybe this varies state by state though...
Ahhh me too, I'm on day 6 of my second bad cold in the last month. I tried to tough it out without Meds, but caved and have been trying some of the different ones approved by my dr: Benadryl, Claritin, mucinex. Does anyone else feel like you are traumatizing the baby when you have violent coughing episodes? The dr. said not to worry about this--this is why there is so much fluid surrounding the baby to cushion him.
Kimmyberly26: did you ask your dr. About the airborne? It's on my list of not approved for any trimesters or nursing.
I have a cold too.. I am not usually big on taking normal medicine anyway but I have been doing lots of hot showers and tea, sleeping a lot and eating healthy food. You can also pour hydrogen peroxide in your ear.. apparently our ears hold a lot of that bacterias and such that we come into contact with.. I just pour a little bit in, let it fiz for a couple of minutes and then tilt my head and pour it out. I also gargle warm salt water.
I feel like I should issue some sort of warning about the Neti pot/squeeze bottle, but I think my unfortunate experience with it was only brought on by being THAT congested and having just the slightest hair trigger gag reflex (which I don't normally have). It's a great option... I just feel that I should say something given my hellish experience, even though it was probably just because of how special I am.
