    Sophia LOVES MMCH, Sofia the First and Doc McStuffins. As long as the TV isn't serving as a babysitter and you're still interacting with your child enough, I don't think there's anything wrong with it either.

    I'm with you ladies.  C "watches" whatever is on, which lately is Olympics.  It's historic, people!!  Seriously though, he can't see that far yet, to him it's light and colors and additional noise.  It's not like we leave him in front of the TV, it's more like background noise while DH and I play with him. 

    That said, as he gets older, we should probably stop using the TV as background noise.

    N also "watches" whatever we do- usually college basketball if DH is home, TLC or Food Network shows if I'm home.  My MIL is going to drive me BSC with N and tv though.  She watches him usually 2-3 times a week when I have to go to Court or meet with clients and the first thing she does when she gets here is turn on the t.v. to Nick, Disney, whatever.  

    I don't have a problem with it being background noise, and once Noah is old enough to appreciate it I plan on using the 1/2 hour that Sesame Street is on as dinner-making time--- but my niece and nephews that MIL watches just play on the computer/ipad and watch tv all day.  I'm not cool with that and I guess that leads to my UO-- when LO is around 18 months we're using daycare instead of a free and available grandma & grandpa.  I'm worried she'll babysit my kids the way she babysits them, and once he is old enough for the toddler room there is a learning component everyday.  And my niece and nephews are quite frankly wild crazy children who don't follow rules-- so I want to limit how much N is around them.

That sucks, I'd want to vent if it happened to me, and people made her feel like shit about it because, I guess, there's some spreadsheet of woe that I'm not privy to that explains what's bad enough to complain about and what isn't.

    My thought is, if you need to vent about something trivial to feel better (we all need to sometimes) go call your best friend, don't expect sympathy from internet strangers.

    Is TP Tuesday, and UO Thursdays not a chance to vent to Internet strangers? A lot of them sure sound like vents to me.

    Eh. I'm all for anything that helps normalize breastfeeding. While I think posting something like that to FB can be a bit AWy, FB in and of itself is kind of AWy.
    First off...judging by your ticker, you have a little girl named Brett. I LOVE the name Brett for a little girl. I'm assuming girl based on your color choice...but if it's a boy...Brett's still an awesome name.

    Second, yes Facebook is definitely AW-y. And I'm not sure the act of taking a selfie of yourself BF-ing is "normalizing" it at all. Again...I wouldn't take a selfie of me and my daughter as I'm feeding her...mostly because who cares? Your kid is eating! Who cares how?

    Call me old fashioned but we're just living in a world of oversharing milestones, I guess. That's my take.

    Maybe UOs are not vents to you, but when someone starts their UO off as, "I hate it when...." sounds like a vent to me.

    In light of the fb post last night, my UO is that this board can be bandwagonish. I think there were a lot of people that agreed with BLADS that did not want to speak up. Then I think there were those who agreed with the FB post that were scared to speak for fear of being flamed. I think someone should not be made fun of simply for a difference of opinion. If, however, they agree with somebody who made an inappropriate comment or something along those lines, they should get flamed.

    Having an opinion doesn't give you immunity from being flamed. Just because it's an opinion doesn't mean it can't be wrong. Think vaccines cause autism? It's your opinion, but you're wrong and I will flame you for it. Want to join a FB group with a bunch of women literally 3 seconds after "meeting" them online? Go ahead, but I think you're an idiot and I'll be sure to let you know.

    You bring up a good point. The thread had so many views, but only a selected handful responded. I just think it was so much madness some were afraid to speak up.

    Monday morning bitchfest and TP Tuesdays are great outlets for trivial vents. We need to make sure to do bitchfest more regularly, I don't think I see it every week.

    I'll try to remember... now that I'm back at work I'm pretty bitchy on Mondays.

    No UO from me yet. I was a leash kid (well, it was a wristlet with a phone cord type cord on it and mom had the other end). I wandered off in a dept store once, and my mom said it was the most horrible feeling of her life.

    While the leashes look a little silly...they are practical and if they keep LO safe then I'm all for it...

    Venting on here: Totally fine with it. I don't do it for internet sympathy or to trivialize other people's problems. I do it because often times people can relate or sometimes even provide me with another perspective. And I just need to get it off my chest. I see no harm. 

    Not speaking up @TaviaBrad: You need to grow a thicker skin. Everyone gets flamed at some point. And sometimes it burns a little. But it is the internet so who cares. Differing opinions and thoughts make the board better in my opinion. And I have disagreed with other BLADS on certain things but I am not afraid to speak up about it for fear of flaming. If I get burned I own it if I was in fact wrong and if not accept it and move on. 

    Leashes: Totally for it. My brother was a runner and I think better to be safe than sorry.

    My UO: I don't like puppies and kittens. I know that makes me sound like a heartless bitch but after working in animal shelters and seeing adults being euthanized because everyone wants a puppy or a kitten I have gotten hardened. I rarely can admit one is cute even. I also prefer an adult pet with a formed personality. 
    Wedding, I was not referring to myself bc I am still here. I was referring to those in the fb group that were upset. They obviously do not have thick skin bc they left and are still mad for whatever reason. I have just noticed in general stuff is very bandwagonish. That is all I am saying. Stuff on here does not hurt my feelings. I think people who get their feelings hurt for real over the Internet should not be in forums at all.

    @wedding06 - I love any and all animals but as for pets, I prefer to adopt "mature" ones.

    We got our cat from a rescue when he was 7; he was already leash-trained and has impeccable potty habits. Poor guy had previously been a sire for a breeder.

    Training a puppy is hard work and they have too much energy for me. We had to put down our chihuahua a few weeks ago. When it's time for a new dog we'll be adopting a senior.

    ETA: my parents have always gotten rescue dogs...they've had great dogs and some with health and behavioral issues...guess what they still love those dogs just as much

    As far as TV watching, Astin is a HUGE fan of anything with music.  American Idol is even more hilarious because if she doesn't like who is singing, she will cry.  The second someone good starts, she stops.  We also put on Baby Mozart and Baby Beethoven DVDs.

    I am with @alexisjo88 on the not being a huge fan of the Olympics thing.  I find it a bore.

    UO's to me are "venting" an opinon?  Sure why not...

    @ashleyross - 100% with you on the use of tits. 

    @justnooch - YES!  Keep calm and for gosh sakes, let it die

    @katie.725 - I hate the term pap smear.  Makes me gag

    My UO is that there should be a rule against cell phones in public restrooms.  I don't want to listen - nor does anyone else want to listen to you dropping a deuce while talking on the phone.  I think it's rude and disgusting.  Sometimes I wish those people would drop their phones in the toilet.  Also people who peep through the cracks of the stalls really freak me the eff out.  Why?? Just why??

    Never said they weren't as good, just that when they are young they are easier to train and can adapt to your lifestyle easier a lot of the time @ lindsey

    See that's great. When I was younger we had a rescue cat and it had some rare disease and died a few months after we got him. He never listened when we told him no. Lol

    See that's great. When I was younger we had a rescue cat and it had some rare disease and died a few months after we got him. He never listened when we told him no. Lol
