I didn't vote because I don't get my official results until tomorrow for the one-hour I did Saturday. But both my Family Doc and OB called about my low iron result from that set of blood work, and neither mentioned me failing the glucose test, so I'm hoping that's a good sign
Did my 1 hour yesterday. Called for results today - but they didn't have them back. Office is closed tomorrow for impending storm - so hopefully I'll have the results Friday. Passed with my son 8 years ago, heres hoping for a repeat.
Did my one hour on Saturday and got the call today that I passed. I honestly didn't mind the drink at all. It's really not that much and I downed it pretty quickly. I had orange flavor.
I'm jealous of all the people that passed the 1 hour. The drink wasn't too bad... just really sugary. I still have a bruise on my arm from them drawing blood though.
Me too! I've never had bruising from a blood draw before, and it didn't hurt when she put the needle in or took it out, but after I got home I had (and still have) a huge, ugly bruise!
Not sure if this is just in our state, but they do the 2 or 3 hour test to save ppl time. They pretty much know that most everyone fails the 1 hour test anyway.

@lovey1 that would certainly contradict the poll findings for our BMB. From everything I have seen, the 1hr test weeds out about half of the people testing, not "most everyone". Although I personally think issuing the 2hr test as opposed to the 1hr is a smarter move.
That damn orange drink is staring me in the face everytime I open the fridge. At least it reminds me to eat super healthy! I don't have mine for another 3 weeks.
I take mine tomorrow. Luckily they run it on a glucometer so I get my results right away.
I have Type 1 diabetes so I don't get to try the koolaid, but I've been wondering about this. Why wouldn't they do them all on a glucometer? It's instant and surely a lot cheaper, right?

I would think so too. And a finger prick is a lot easier than a blood draw. I was surprised when I heard people had to wait for their results.
Took my one hour on Friday and called the Dr's office today for my results and I failed. Were they going to call and tell me this?? I'm going Saturday at 8am for the 3hr test. Wish me luck?

I'll vote tomorrow after my OB appointment.
My blood work showed low iron as well. Guess I need to start taking iron supplements. Passed the glucose test, so that is great news.
blah, I still have to wait 2 weeks. I have the drink taunting me in my fridge.
Mine has been in the fridge for a couple weeks as well. The nurse said cold is better and my sister said lemon lime is better than the other one. We shall see how bit goes Monday!

My doc said that pretty much everyone in her office failed the 1 hour. I got so angry with this. I kept thinking, well then instead of wasting our time, how about you just schedule us for the 2 or 3 hour first? 2 Mondays wasted now cause I have to spend it starving myself!

@RachelCA29 Do you know if they check iron as a standard part of the GTT here or did your doc specifically indicate testing for it on your requisition? My form just says "1 hour glucose test, 50 gram" on it, nothing else is indicated. I was planning to ask either at the lab or at my next appointment about checking iron.
@spacepotatoes I had a requisition form with a bunch of things checked off (the bottom half of the sheet was a huge checklist of types of tests), I'm not sure which was the iron test. Then it had "1 hour glucose test, 50 gram" typed into the "other tests" section of the same form.
I was given the requisition at my 24 week appointment and just told to go to any lab and have it done before my 28 week appointment (which is actually happening today at 27 weeks because I have an ultrasound anyway). The nurse at my OBs office did up the lab requisition form for me, so I think it's the standard set of what gets ordered between 24-28 weeks.
They took 4 vials at the lab, 1 was obviously for the glucose test, so there were at least 3 other things they tested for. But the requisition form is all medical short forms for the tests, so I'm not really sure what they checked, besides iron because my OB's office called me about those results.
Thanks, @RachelCA29! My 1st tri bloodwork form had a bunch of things checked off but this one has nothing, so it made me curious. It just mentions the GTT in the "Other Tests" section, like yours. I got the same instructions, too, to just go to any lab. I guess I will have to verify when I get there or at my next appt.
I passes the 1 hour. I didn't think the drink (orange) was too terrible. Like many pp, my blood work did show a low iron level. Just another pill that I have to try to remember to take.
Ack I have the 1 hour tomorrow meh trying not to think about and no dessert tonight and protein and good fats for breakfast before the test so that's about all I can do to hopefully get an accurate reading.
ETA: I passed the one hour quite well and actually found out about 1 hour afterwards so woot!
