I must be in the minority, but I make DH do it now. It was super scary the first time, but now its not so bad. I'd rather him do it then me slip in the shower.

DH had to do it for me towards the end of my last pregnancy too. I wasn't worried but FFC: I was completely inexperienced when I started dating DH. He suggested I shave and helped me my first time.

FFC: I may let DH do it after LO is born. He's a lot faster and better at it then me!

Yeah even not pregnant I have a hard time seeing completely underneath. And I end up missing a hair here or there. He definitely does it better. And faster.

When I brought this up to my husband a few months ago, he decided to get me a gift certificate for laser removal for my birthday. He doesn't think he can do it for me, but frankly I don't really want him to. My skin is super sensitive.

I have one of those electric trimmers to keep it short and occasionally will try to do some work on my bikini line. I'm extremely modest and uncomfortable about letting someone else wax me, but I'm trying to convince myself to suck it up and just do it.

ETA obviously I have to wait a while to cash in on the lasering. Boo!

  • I did laser years ago, which was a fantastic decision because I had to do NOTHING for years. But now it a little effort to keep the results. I touch-up shave as I need to. It is strange not being able to see it though. Haha.
  • Those of you who wax - do you do it yourself, or go somewhere?

  • I got mine lasered a few years ago and it was all good until I got KU. My hormones started acting all crazy and I kid you not, I started growing hair again. Not all, but maybe 30%. I'm hoping that whole hair falling out thing after you have the baby applies here, but in the meantime I've been getting waxed. I'm sure that only helps reactivate those hair follicles, but gotta make do with what I've got.

  • I'm still shaving regularly. I use an electric shaver to trim and neaten, and a regular razor to do the sides and closer bits. I'm plus size and couldn't see that area to begin with. Nothing has changed.

I don't believe in paying money to have someone else do something I can take care of myself. Something that doesn't really matter in the big picture, no less.

  • Oh I am so glad somebody started this board. I gave up a few weeks ago. So glad to see that I am not the only one. I try to do the reach around and get the bikini spots but that's the best of my abilities right now. I told the other half he might have to man up and trim me closer to the due date. If I have to push out our son, he can trim the lawn that one time.
  • I wax, regularly, even before getting KU. I'm super sensitive and any amount of shaving causes horrible razor burn/ingrown hairs. Anyone thinking if waxing, really it's not so bad. I will admit the first time or two was like wth am I doing! But if ya keep up with it (I go every 5 weeks) it hurts less and less. Ladies with more hair, yeah it'll hurt more. And if you're embarrassed just think, you're not the only vag they've seen and get paid pretty well to wax your who-ha (and I tip well for just this service!!) some salons have different kinda of wax, my place has wax for sensitive skin, it doesn't tug as much, although it's a little tougher to grab the hairs.
I can't imagine being as fuzzy as I was in basic training all over again... Omg!! I finally felt human when I got home and to a salon for a wax!! Haha oh and if never trust myself to do an at home wax lol! I'd end up with cold dried strips all over my goodies!

I must be the only one who doesn't shave/wax normally.  I'll trim to keep it from becoming a jungle, but MH actually prefers the natural look and it is way easier for me!
Not the only one! Me too!

I never realized that it's apparently not normal for grown women to have hair down there.  Guess maybe that should be a confession?  It's never been a problem for me.
Me three.  I'm kind of the hairy beast outlier of this conversation as far as I can tell though.  I can count on one hand the number of times I shave my legs in an average year, and it's not because of fine blonde hairs.

Add me to this list, as well.  I guess I don't really understand the need to be bare.  Also, I am lazy.  I don't have a ton of hair there, and DH swears he couldn't care less. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I go to a spa/salon. I do a French bikini so I don't wax it all. I also have to wax my eyebrows and upper lip so I figure I am there anyways....I prob wax my bikini once every 4-6 weeks.

I'm the same. I shave around the bikini area and trim everything, but I am way to scared to wax. With running, it helps with the chafing as well.
  • I'm still able to shave. But it's gotten to the point where I'm just going to let it grow out like a bush! because one- I can't see anything. And 2- its exhausting. Lol.
  • Probably TMI, but I'm ridiculously proud right now! This thread inspired me to give it one last shot. It involved contortions that would impress a Chinese Imperial acrobat, and I feel as though I just ran a marathon, but I now have lovely smooth lady bits (won't be attempting it again anytime soon though!)
  • I'm shaving, but only like twice a month....right before an OB appt and another time when I am not too lazy to shave before sex. :)

  • SS- I was shaving regularly like normal. Now that I am to the point where I can't see it I got out my waterproof trimmer and I just buzz that shit off as short as I can. Easy peasy. With my DS1 I has H do it a couple times and then he nicked me... sooo yeah. Can't trust that one anymore.

Go somewhere! Though I'm sure my husband would be beside himself with laughter if he could watch me attempt to wax my own butt crack. Yes, that's right. I never realized there was really much anything back there, either, until I tried it and asked to check out the wax strip after she yanked it.

For the record: Butthole waxing is not near as painful as you'd expect. Much more pleasant than vag waxing. I hope you all feel you've grown a bit with that knowledge.

The butthole bit is so true! I thought about just shaving my vag and having the butthole waxed!

Go somewhere. I would never even attempt it myself.

I've heard that's normal. Something about the hormones. You'll likely have to go back for touch up lasering session.

  • I shave once I can no longer stand the feel of it...every 1.5-2 weeks and then it's such a horribly intensive undertaking. I'm really tempted to ask DH to do it but I'm afraid! I know he would, but I worry if that's one of those lines in the sand, one of those things you can never undo! Lol...maybe dramatic but we're that couple who after 5 years have still never used the toilet with each other in the same bathroom (not even # 1). This feels like it belongs in that same category. Am I crazy?? Because then I also have the fear that he'll slice and dice me lol
  • I shave when I feel up to it. At least once a week or so. I always do it right before an appointment just in case for some reason they had to go there.
