Heart Beat at 11 weeks (Sorry I'm sure this has already been asked)

I have my first OB appointment on Monday and I will be 11 weeks. I had a 9 week u/s with my RE and everything was great but of course when I dont see baby weekly I panic! I don't think my OB will do a u/s so what do you think my chances are of hearing a HB on Monday? If they dont hear anything I sure hope I don't have to wait the normal 4 weeks btwn appts to come back!

  • your OB should use the fetal monitor on you...i found my babies heartbeat on my home fetal monitor around 11 weeks so you should be far enough along that you will hear it!!  If not i would think your dr would do a quick ultrasound to make sure all is good!!!!

  • With DS I rented a doppler to use at home. You should look into it. You can buy one for around $50. I used it daily from 12 weeks till about 17 weeks. I loved having it.
  • I had my appt this morning and I'm 11 weeks today.  She pulled out the doppler and found the heartbeat right away.  I recorded it on my phone for DH to hear.  I love hearing that sound.  Makes the all day sickness worth it.

  • My last appointment was at 10w5d, and I was able to hear the heartbeat on the doppler. The nurse had no trouble finding it.

  • My doctor didn't even try with the Doppler at 11 weeks. We had a home doppler and I had found the heartbeat at 9 weeks, but at my first appointment at 11 weeks the nurse brought it in but the doctor didn't even touch it. Some will, but many use the 12-week mark as the hard and fast doppler rule, because it can be stressful for moms if they can't find the heartbeat.

  • At my 11wk I got a quick dating u/s because I switched doctors and the old one really messed up my files. If I hadn't then there was the option of doing the NT scan around that time, which we skipped. Around 16 weeks I got the doppler check.

It's normal to not hear a heartbeat at 11 weeks. You'll have an NT soon probably so you'll be seeing your baby any day now.

  • My doctor couldn't find the baby's heartbeat at 12 weeks - said my uterus was still too low. She wheeled in a small ultrasound machine to check it out. Hopefully yours will too!

  • My doctor couldn't find the heartbeat with the doppler at 12 weeks, so he decided to go ahead and do an u/s.  Every appointment after that though, he has been able to find it no problem.
