2nd Trimester

ok so this may be stupid.... but oh well

So I read everyday about feeling the baby kick. I am 20w 4d and have felt nothing. All I wanted to know is, is it obvious when you feel it. This is my first so I have no clue what to expect. I know it just may take me a few days or weeks to feel something, but I guess I just wish I knew what I should be expecting..?

Re: ok so this may be stupid.... but oh well

  • I thought it was, even when it was just twitching/fluttering.  There's no way that was gas. Now that it's kicks (and by 20 weeks to me it felt more like light jabs then flutters) it's definitely obvious.  But my SIL didn't feel anything at all until 20-21 weeks, but I think she has a tilted uterus.

  • When I thought I started feeling her I always thought to myself "is that baby or gas" then one day I got some intense and fairly regular flutters and I knew it was her.  They have gotten more regular since.  To me it feels like someone is tickling you from the inside.  Hope you get some dance moves soon.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • You may feel flutters at first and you will know when it is no longer gas pains and flutters. You will know when it's a real kick. Don't stress.

Could depend on your body type before pregnancy and the location of your placenta. Flutters feel like a twitchy butterfly floating around, atleast thats what it feels like for me.

    Merry Christmas

  • I have not had kicks yet, but I have felt flutters quite often. I thought it was pretty obvious because I had never felt it before, and it was always in the same spot.

Have you taken the time to try and feel it. When you catch yourself sitting down during the day, just take a few minutes, be very quite and try to focus and be in tune to your body. Sometimes with all the noise and distraction, it might be happening, but you just don't realize it.

I hope you feel something soon, but I wouldn't worry, I think this is a common complaint around here.?

  • I asked at my last OB appointment about movement and she said I may start feeling it anytime between now and 22 weeks.  Maybe you just haven't gotten far enough?  I've heard lots of people comment that after they recognized what the movement was, they realize they have been feeling it for a while, they just didn't know.
