Hi everyone. I am currently a single mom of a pre-teen and am excited to add a second kid to the mix this summer. While I'm looking forward to this new journey, I'm also feel a bit overwhelmed about starting over after such a long gap. Then there is the fact that the father will not be apart of the equation. Whew! I never thought this would be my situation and this is totally different from my first experience. As an independent women I've handled so much comfortably on my own. However this situation feels more isolating than anything I have experienced thus far. Familes are so diverse but in looking for support everything seems geared toward couples, first time moms, and women who have had "choice" pregnancies (not through separation or widowhood). The father choosing not to be involved has nothing to with me and I've done nothing wrong. That said I have the right to be excited about this pregnancy just like any other person and I choose to be so. Would just be nice to be able to connect with others who can relate, empathize, or just help me be creative in making it all work. I want to offer the same regardless of marital status, color, economics, sexual orientation etc. Thankfully I have a few great friends, will be assisted by a Doula, and being that my daughter is a great kid I know she'll be a great big sister too.
