Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

5 m/c, 4 of them before 5 weeks (kinda long)

I have had 5 m/c. The first one I was 8w6d along before I lost the baby. I didn't pass everything and had to get a d & c 2 days later. The doctor who did the d & c said I was already getting infected by time I got the d & c. A year and a half later I got pregnant again and lost it at 4w3d. I was tested and they found I had a blood clotting disorder. After that I was put on heparin and baby aspirin the 3rd and 4th pregnancy. I lost both of them at 4w4d.  I had more testing done and it was found I had a certain inhibitor and was put on metformin after my 4th m/c. They also did genetic testing on both my husband and I and both came back normal. I lost my 5th baby at 4w5d even though I was on baby aspirin, heparin, metformin, and progesterone. I am worried that something went wrong during the d & c since the last 4 pregnancies I wasn't even able to carry them to 5 weeks, but the first when I was on no medicine what so ever I held 'til almost 9 weeks. If anyone has any advice or experience with this I would greatly appreciate a response. Thank you in advance for any help or advice.

Re: 5 m/c, 4 of them before 5 weeks (kinda long)

  • No advice...just that I am SO SO sorry. I have had 2 and I can't imagine going through it again, let alone as many times as you have. You are so strong to go through what you've been through.

I do think though our brains start to get the best of us. I had a completely normal boring amazing pregnancy with Ds and I swear something happened during my c section that has caused the miscarriages. I think all we can do is put our trust in the doctors and hope and pray they figure it out. It's so hard, I know.

  • I'm so sorry about your losses.  ((HUGS))

I would really look into the blood clotting disorder and how it impacts your body.  How do you feel about your OB?  I'd want someone that is very proactive about seeing me the second I think I'm pg to come up with a plan.  I hope you find a good plan for you soon.

  • I do have a RE. Her next suggestion is surgery to check to see if there is anything wrong with my uterus. My last pregnancy she was doing blood work every 2 days to watch my levels. It started out at 22, and only went up to 30 two days later. Then two days after that it went down to 8. I am worried something went wrong during the d & c and that it could be the reason I have lost the last four so quickly.
