Was my last period actually implantation bleeding?

Last week we found out we are having our second baby! We are so excited, but weren't necessarily "trying" to get pregnant, because of this I wasn't keeping track of my period like I should have been. The last period I had was around the first week of January and I remember it being extremely light, I think I very, very lightly spotted for three days or so... Could this have actually been implantation? With my first I woke up to one tiny spot of blood when the egg implanted and that was it. Do any of you know when your egg implanted? What was it like? I don't have a prenatal appointment until March 12th and am dying to find out how far along I am! :) Thanks!

    AF visited me last starting 12/31 and we found out we were pregnant two weeks ago so if you just found out I would say its possible you had your actual period and implanted this cycle. I don't know your cycle though so I really couldn't say. I am on a 28 day cycle. I didn't experience any bleeding.

    I thought the same thing when I went for my first appointment. Told the OB I wasn't sure if my last AF was real or not because it was so much lighter than usual and there was no clotting or gooeyness to it. Easy answer: dating u/s. Turned out that was indeed a real AF and I was 6w 2d. Bonus: got to see the heartbeat too! There was no implantation bleeding that I noticed, but I tend to spot after sex anyway so I could have just missed it. Either way, there's no way to know for sure until the doc tells you how far along you are. Good Luck!!

    There is a difference between implantation bleeding and period .During implantation bleeding you will not get fresh blood .The discharge will be of dark brown color and no clotting will be noticed.And one more thing you will notice that when you are pregnant you may notice spotting when your period date is near.

    With DS I thought I was having my period because I had never spotted before, so I didn't know it could be anything other than my period. I used a tampon, but it was so dry it made me uncomfortable. It was sporadic for three days. I only figured out what it was months later when someone mentioned IB in a thread.

    I did not spot this time.
