Kinley's surprise early arrival!

Kinley Diane made a surprise early arrival on Tues Feb 4 weighing in at 6 lbs 10 oz and 20 inches long!

Long Story:
Cramping begin in the middle of the night and I woke DH to start timing contractions about 5:00. Contractions build up to 1 1/2 to 2 minutes long about 5-6 minutes apart. We head to the hospital at 8:30. I am only 1 cm dilated but they have me up and moving to see if that'll really get labor going. Contractions are getting much stronger with little relief between them plus I'm really shaky and nauseous. They check me again at 10:30 and I'm 5 cm dilated. I'm excited to hear that I'm having my baby today! Despite wanting to go med-free, the nurse starts setting me up for an epidural. I do not resist because I can't imagine several more hours of contractions of that intensity. They check me again before letting me get out of bed (while they are getting the epidural ready/bloody work done) and I'm 9 cm at 11:10. As soon as I'm out of bed, I feel the urge to push! The doctor shows up a few minutes later and I push for about 10 minutes before I have my beautiful baby in my arms.

It was an overwhelming, amazing, and wonderful experience. I'm so glad I was able to deliver med-free, as this was very important to me, even though I was going to get the epidural half way through. She's doing wonderfully, despite being three weeks early, and we were able to come home the day after.
