He's probably referring to the three lines that he is pointing too. That's what they look for on girls.
ETA: if you will google "girl ultrasound" (or something of the sort) then it will help you to see some larger images so you know what you are looking for.
I'm not a trained ultrasound tech, but at a certain photographic angle and clarity, you can see the genitalia pretty clearly. Unfortunately, I can't tell from this specific ultrasound (the whole non-trained tech thing screws me up every time). I have been able to see it at other 15 week ultrasounds.
You're asking for an explanation from a bunch of untrained internet people. Why the heck didn't you ask the tech that you PAID to explain it to you? See how ridiculous that sounds? You don't trust her educated and professional opinion, yet you trust a bunch of internet strangers to explain this to you?

Exactly. How is anything I have to say going to reassure you more than what the educated professional already told you?
Your pathetic, I'm not going to even waste my time defending myself to someone as low as you. Sorry! But your not getting the attention you are craving from me!

You're the one all worked up over the sex of your fetus that you've thrown rational thinking out the window and are asking the opinions of internet strangers over a trained professional that you paid good money to. See how desperate and pathetic that sounds?
Perhaps we have opposite definitions of pathetic.

Thank you! Yes I've been trying to google and it looks like a boy to me! It looks like the little turtle popping out haha
Personally, I do see why the tech said "pretty sure girl," but only because I have been doing my own research on it. I don't really see this thread going over well, but since you asked WHY they said girl and not "what am I having?" I figured I would throw in my two cents.
Abc- people get so worked up. They look to start arguments. Really? People are so childish. Thank you for a mature comment, I appreciate it. I just wanted other moms opinions, no biggee!!!

She gave you her opinion on what the sex of your baby was. That was what you asked. I don't see how that's pathetic. Most people would agree that's it's a little absurd to not ask the person trained and instead ask a bunch of strangers. I could easily tell you I'm a tech and that is 100% boy. Does that make you feel better?? Except I have no idea what I'm talking about.
And it's actually spelled *you're* if you're going to be like that.

I'm a trained tech and I totally thought boy too. Or maybe a puppy... but probably boy.

I love puppy babies! Not as much as alien babies, but they're a close second.

That alien baby was the greatest ultrasound I've ever seen.

So we had our appointment last night to determine gender and the tech was pretty confident it's a girl. Can someone explain how he gets it's a girl? I don't really understand how to read this ultrasounds.

This ultrasound announcement is a prime example of why you shouldn't trust internet strangers to interpret your ultrasounds. This is from babycenter, found on Pinterest.

Don't they also look for a uterus? I mean genetalia is one thing, but boys certainly wouldn't have a ute...
No. They don't. There are various videos available that go through t he fetus developing and this early (its interesting actually), the testes are in the same place as the ovaries and insides look (to me) approximately the same.

Did they....put a party hat on the stomach instead of the head? Or am I crazy?

It is not "nasty" to tell you the truth. You already know that 15 weeks is too early, that ultrasound sex questions don't go over well here, and yet you still post anyway? Clearly you are the one craving attention, honey.
For the record, 15 weeks really is too early unless you have an excellent shot of the goods and an excellent tech. It looks like you didn't have either.

I just had my elective u/s a few days ago, at a little over 15 wks, and the tech took less than a minute to tell me I have two boys. I would post a photo of it but I don't want their privates on the internet....but you can clearly see they are male. I think at this point it's quite easy to tell so unless you had a tech that was obviously new to this, I would say she is likely correct. Congrats!
I am annoyed I can't see page one. wtf happened? I am lost...
OP posted a picture of her 15 week ultrasound and asked how to tell it was a girl (or boy? I can't remember). And then she said something like "I know 15 weeks is too early to tell gender [her word], so don't post nasty comments" and then proceeded to freak the hell out when people pointed out that she shouldn't be asking strangers on the internet to tell her the sex of her baby. Typical ultrasound thread ;-)
@TheAnne She said the ultrasound tech said it was a girl but she thought it looked like a boy and wanted us to tell her the trained professional was wrong.
