By "good" I just meant I actually have one.

FFFC: After all the Edible Arrangement talk on here I bought and sent myself an Edible Arrangement.

FFFC2: I may have pointed a FB acquaintance of mine to TB in hopes of her spewing her drama on here (read: it's twins for baby daddy #3, this would be kid 3 & 4 for both of them, so 6 kids total.) or asking a dumb question just for my own amusement.
I extra big puffy heart you today, @CamrynnsMommy!

@spacepotatoes, I have a brooch on my plain black wool winter coat of a snowflake. I've had it for years, and get tons of compliments on it. It's all clearstones, a bit bigger than a half dollar, and sparkles like crazy. I've been asked more than once if it's a family heirloom, to which I reply it is. HA! I bought it at Kohl's easily 10 years ago for probably a few bucks!

@whse13kittens, sometimes you have to do what is best for you and not someone else. I hope your meeting with your brother goes great!!

Not sure this is a confession, per se, but the ring thread got me thinking--I rarely wear my engagement ring. There is nothing wrong with it--it is a pretty standard princess-cut stone with pave diamonds on the side--but I just don't wear it. I do wear my wedding band on weekdays--it 4mm hammered silver band that is very simple. DH has a matching 6mm band and he loves his. We got them both on Etsy for $50! DH hated all the "real" rings he tried on at jewelers because they were "too heavy" and this one is super light. I often think I should buy him a couple extra since he hunts and fishes and has almost lost his ring a number of times.

My other confession: my parents are taking us to Dinosaur BBQ in Rochester after my 3d/4d ultrasound tomorrow. I am sitting at my desk salivating over the menu instead of doing work.

I lived in Albany for 1.5 years and loooove me some Dinosaur BBQ! Enjoy!!
  • @typeset I got married at our court house for $30 that my dad happily paid for (you know cause its tradition that the brides parents pay for the wedding) . My whole family was there and the "chapel" was set up so tacky. Had a valentines day banner and a random heart stuck to the wall with a thumb tack. I need to find a picture

    It's a BOY

  • DH went into work late this morning because of the snow-last night I told him I'd get up with him and have breakfast. (I never see him in the mornings because he usually leaves really early). His alarm went off at 9, and I heard it but I was so comfy and warm and still sleepy that I faked sleep so I wouldn't have to get up.

I, too, can't get on board with sex lately. I just don't feel sexy in the slightest and I'm running out of excuses for DH. I feel bad for the guy, but hey. I'm growing a baby over here.

  • I never, I mean never, answer my work phone unless it's my boss. (We have caller ID on every phone in the office.) The lady I took over for always has bill collectors calling her old extension (now mine), so if anyone ever says anything I'll just say it was one of her bill collectors calling again. Email me if you want to get a hold of me! Don't care anymore!

It seems like every thing DH does recently pisses me off.  His snoring especially.  He has (undiagnosed) sleep apnea and it's freaking me out!  Plus, he doesn't shower regularly, doesn't clean up around the small area that we are living in, and I'm just tired of the laziness!!  I know I have my moments, but DANG!!!  You are 34 years old, ACT LIKE IT!

I went to the gym this morning and then came home and promptly devoured enough Twizzlers and Cadbury chocolate to completely negate the calories I burned.

I've always heard that you tend to crave the things your body needs. The past week or so I'm totally craving milk/dairy. The thing is, I don't really like to drink milk. So I'm using my craving as an excuse to make/eat a lot of cookies, because that's kind of the only time I like to drink milk. Since Tuesday evening, I have consumed enough cookies to get me through almost an entire gallon of milk. Baby needs it! :)

I'm not faking orgasms, but I'm not getting there either.  I was trying to explain to DH how sex feels different in ways that don't make sense even to me and it's my parts.  (I thought things would be shallower from the baby smooshing everything in his path but it actually feels like a damn ballroom in there.  grumble.)  It was a strange conversation, but it helped some.

My MIL hates yogurt but when pregnant with DH she craved it all the time. She would gag as she ate it but she couldn't quit because she had to have it. With DS, I ate ranch and hot wings (oddly not together) like they were going out if style. Everything from veggies to saltines were dipped in ranch. The hotter the wings the better. Before him I never ate wings or ranch either one. It was weird.

Try not caring when you live in London during the 2012 Olympics. Oh what's that? You want a seat on the train to work? No chance. The place was awash with volunteers wearing their purple shirts and beige slacks. I did get to see the Olympic torch though when it went past my workplace. It also went down my street, but I didn't live there yet :(

I've heard that too. When I first got pregnant I was craving salad (Caesar specifically) and raw veggies all the time. And I completely lost my sweet tooth. I'm a big milk drinker anyway, so I just upped my milk to a ridiculous amount.

My husband and I have sex like every two or three weeks and sometimes longer.  Not that often but it's pretty great when we do.  When we were TTC, I was having the most intense and crazy orgasms.  Now, no matter how close I feel to getting there, I just can't reach big "O" while having sex.  I don't fake it at all and my husband, bless him, will get his jollies off then whip out the hitachi or another toy and take care of me the rest of the way until I do.  I'm more frustrated with myself that I can't orgasm now no matter how much I enjoy the moment.  Sucks...
  • I have to wok really hard to not let motherhood consume me/become my sole identity. It's especially hard right now because I'm taking a break from school and I'm completely disconnected from it/my career path right now. I know it's not healthy but it's somewhat blissful and I would kind of like to just revel in it while I can.

I just don't get it, people hate weddings and the Olympics? What's next? Summer vacations?
I hate summer vacations. *Insert embarrassed emoticon* I don't like being too warm, so if DH and I are going on vacation by ourselves we normally go in the spring, fall, or winter, and we go somewhere besides the beach. The only times I've been to the beach are family vacations when that's where everyone else wanted to go. Both my SIL and BIL went on cruises to the Bahamas for their honeymoons, and that sounded awful to me. We went to a cabin in the mountains where it was cool.

Once you've been struggling to get to work and back for several weeks and you can't even get tickets to see any of the games in your hometown because the ticket people fucked up the ordering process, the fun wears off quite quickly.

Then your mayor gets stuck on a zip line in a suit and its the most hilarious thing you've ever seen. Google Boris Johnson zip line. It's worth it.,

  • That is honestly have no idea what fffc stands for, but based on reading them in the past, context clues tell me One of the F's must stand for Friday, and the C must be something about confessions???

Also, I deliberately did not eat some bananas I had and let then get brown(ish) so I could make banana bread. Delicious carbs vs actual fruit... Hmmm :-)
  • I honestly have no idea exactly how old my dad is. My SD, sure, his 50th bday was shortly before our wedding, 5 years ago this June. My dad? I can't remember! I know it was a big deal. I know both him and my SM are a few years older than my mom, who will be 50 this May. It's like a never ending trivia game when I think about it.

I have an unhealthy like of GSN. Old lady at heart here.

I don't know if I'm more sad, or mad when I see obese parents with obese children. I feel like being obese yourself is one thing, it's a personal choice then (I'm obese, I get it), but when your entire family is obese (and I'm not talking a little pudgy, I mean your kid couldn't fit in the Play Land even if they wanted to), that's just wrong. My kid is her father. She will eat anything under that sun. Well almost anything, we still have our bad days when she is difficult to feed simply because she is distracted or being difficult in general, but this kid asked for a salad for dinner last night. She wanted everything on it, onions, green peppers, tomatoes, carrots, cheese, etc. and she ate it all up. We've been pretty strict about juice and unnecessary calories, like condiments. And DD is active on her own. But I just hate seeing kids, with too many electronics, eating McD's all day every day, who can't see their own feet.

    I can't.

I've got a confession today.  Let me get my asbestos suit just in case.

Before people posted threads using the r-word to mean things like dumb, I already knew that it was bad, but I had no idea it was that bad.  My uncle has Downs, so I usually think of the r-word as a term belonging to an older generation to actually describe people with developmental delay.  That's what my mom and grandma mean when they describe the lady who helped my uncle learn to read, write, and cook by saying she works with retarded people.  It used to be the medical word and that's how they use it.  I was actually a bit relieved when @kitchencolors posted on one of the other threads that the right term now is 'intellectual disability' because I've heard a lot of options that sound reasonable but had no idea if they were good and wasn't sure who to ask/how to ask without sounding like a jackass.

(Not meaning that as a defense of the yahoos.  As I said, I already knew that it's not ok to use when you're being scornful, and I know it hasn't been the medical term for a good long while.  I just hadn't realized it was that level of offensive I guess.)

Another, more frivolous confession is that having a library science degree makes me feel extra dumb when I can't find information on my own.  I prefer to ask people so sometimes I blank on how to find stuff.  sadface.
Your comment about the r-word is not flame worthy! The word, at one time, was widely acceptable in the public. With time, the negative way these terms have been used has led us to choose other language. I used to work in Medicaid, and at the time we used the term "consumers" to collectively refer to the group of individuals we provided services to - 'We have three new consumers joining our services this month', for example. Now, I believe they're using the term "participants" as the descriptive.

Think of the organization The Arc: ARC used to stand for Association for Retarded Children, then it was the Association for Retarded Citizens. They no longer use it as an acronym, they are just The Arc. Was their intention in the name or their mission ever negative? Of course not! But times have changed, and your generational experience really is a perfect example of that, IMO. You also grew up with your uncle, where like you said the word was used and you all understood it not to be used negatively but rather in the case of your uncle it was a part of his life and therefore would have been addressed or uttered in your family far more frequently.

    Get off my lawn!

I don't get NBC, so no Olympics for me.  :(  And I work evenings, so I would probably not get to see the figure skating anyway.
  • I really like the FB look back videos and have watched almost every single one that has been posted. I think it was a really sweet idea.
  • My FFFC is that I cringe when people "upgrade" their wedding/engagement band - I don't get it. Like, you don't want to wear the band with which your husband proposed to you? I'd rather wear something with significance than have a bigger diamond. I suppose if I desperately wanted to have a bigger rock I would save up for some diamond studs or something.
This sometimes bugs me too, but I get it in certain situations. When we bought my wedding band, DH had all intentions of buying one later that would match my engagement ring. We got married at 20 and 21 right out of college, and we didn't have the money for him to buy the rings he wanted to buy, so my original wedding band is the tiniest, least expensive white gold band you can buy. It's actually what I'm wearing now instead of my engagement ring and the new band he bought me for our third anniversary, since they don't fit anymore. I love my little engagement ring though - I wouldn't let him upgrade it even if he wanted to. :)
