I'm 39 weeks & curious for thoughts on castor oil to induce labor. I'm a very small frame & if baby comes next week he should be about 8 lbs. I'm hoping to go into labor soon to avoid a c-section if he is too big. How much castor oil should I take? I've had contractions off & on for a few days but they stop as quickly as they start.
Re: Castor oil??
If you absolutely must try to get your baby out (Although I think you should wait. Baby will come when he or she is ready), I'd suggested sex, and going for walks. Technically nothing else (like castor oil) has been proven to jump start labor.
Just for an example, I had my membranes scraped 2 times at 39 and 40 weeks, plus I went on walks and bounced on an exercise ball and still went 4 days past my due date, 2 days before my scheduled induction date.
Also, I'd like to mention that ultrasounds are notoriously wrong at estimating baby's weight. Not to mention, 8 lbs is NOT that big for a baby. Our bodies were made to push babies out so your body type shouldn't matter.
Then we had you.
Now we are complete.
