Was just prescribed this yesterday. Anyone have any experience with it? My morning blood sugar has been running at 100-115 over the last month :( havnt failed the 1 hour test though.

Re: Glyburide

  • I take this twice a day.  Once at night before bed for my overnight #'s and once during the day when I have a carb/sugar heavy meal.  It works great.  Good luck!

  • Thank you, I felt all strange this morning, guess I will get used to it :)
  • I used it and had a bad reaction to it and was put on insulin instead. It dropped my blood sugar to 54 in the middle if the night, super scary.
  • So far it has done nothing for my fasting numbers :)
  • I was prescribed glyburide 2x a day and while it did help bring my after meals numbers some, it dropped my fasting numbers way too low. My nutritionist advised me to stop taking it until I spoke to my doctor again... she explained that it is a constant release of insulin in your system, so instead of a reaction to food it just keeps working. So you have to be very diligent about not skipping meals or snacks.  I go back to the MFM tomorrow to see if they change my meds/dose.

    GL!
  • To you as well :)
  • I was put on this about 2 weeks ago.  I take it at night to help with my fasting numbers that were around 105 on average.  It took me a few days to get used to it.  It made me very hungry in the beginning but I am now getting used to it.  It didn't do anything to my fasting numbers until day 3-4.  Make sure you eat your snack at night or you will drop too low and feel like crap.  I average about 15g of carb snack around 9pm and my fastings have been much lower around 80's. Good luck!!
  • I am finding that if I don't eat a late night snack my numbers are reasonable in the morning but if I do they suck :( so much for a cookie before bed!
