  Maybe I could ask you girls a question? My friend told me not to get the cervical checks because they could induce preterm labor. I know this is still a while ahead of me, but just wondered if you guys got them and if you think they are safe or not? This friend is a little kooky

  I had them starting at 38 weeks. My water broke 5 days before my due date and I don't think it had anything to do with having those checks! Good luck!!

  I choose not to have them, except once. I was contracting allot and was curious if I was making progress, which I wasn't. I cramped alot after...and didn't get any more.
  
  Do what you want to do. If you want them, get them...if not that's cool too.

  I only had them while I was getting induced. The very first one was extremely uncomfortable since I was at a 1 and my cervix was still very high. I wouldn't get them unless there was a reason, but that's just me.

  I didn't have any checks until I was 41 weeks with my second baby. With my first it was 39 weeks, I think.

  Congrats and good luck!  Oh and you should definitely read the thread call "New here? Read Me First" over on June 2014.  They have very specific ways of doing things over there.

  No. I mean cray cray because i think it's funny that they have an announcment for their rules or whatever.
  I totally get being protective as a board, ESP what alot of them went through.
  Didn't mean to make it sound like i was calling them crazy. If that makes sense.
