I work with nurses. As a group we have lost our sense of personal space, so I have been getting numerous belly rubs every shift since I announced at 12 weeks. There really is no fighting it. I just wish they would rub something else, like my feet or my back!
Another Pennsylvanian here... Cumberland County to be exact. I haven't had any strangers try to touch my belly yet. I've had family and friends do it but I don't really care about them. The first time it happened I was just shy of 16 weeks and I wasn't showing then so it was just a little odd for me. I never understood how they were going to enforce the law and I'm still trying to figure out how they can enforce it when most people don't even know about it. I think it's kind of one of those HAS to be abused deals. And you would have to know the person. How can you file a lawsuit on a complete stranger when you don't even know their name and the interaction was a quick 5 second encounter? No matter how uncomfortable it is.
I've only had a few strangers touch my belly, and one very nice lady actually asked first! MIL rubs my belly and says hi babies! everytime she sees me, and it doesn't bother me. It's just the strangers that skiv me out. Unfortunately, I'm usually at work when people touch without asking so I kinda have to be professional and nice , but totally plan on using some of your tips if it ever happens out in public!! Hahahaha. However, seeing all of your posts have given me a new perspective. I realize how often at work (I'm a nurse) I touch people, help them get undressed, etc without asking their permission. Hmmm.....
