I would like to, but there are so many options and I feel like I don't know what I am looking for. I don't know where to start.
What I did was find a local baby store that sells them and go in and get a "tutorial"...now that I know the basics I'm all over online. I can help if you want!
We are going to CD! Hang out on the CD board to get some info about different options, pros/cons of each, etc. There's lots of info there! And they can lead you to other good resources.
I am planning on it but it's dependent on settling on a daycare provider who is okay with it first.
Fair enough. I know in my city (we are kinda liberal though) they allow All-In-Ones but not the pre-folds with covers. So if are seriously considering, ask day cares if they allow All-In-Ones.
For the mama's trying to figure out the lingo on that they are called AIO's.
Yup and I'm crazy because I'm really excited about it. I've been buying different brands and types the last few months and I have a full newborn and one size stash ready to go.
I would like to, but there are so many options and I feel like I don't know what I am looking for. I don't know where to start.
I signed up for a free Cloth Diaper 101 class at a local store where they show you the different options and information on each. From my understanding, the "right" diaper can differ from baby to baby and from age to age. Because of this, it was recommended to me to get one of a few different types and figure out what works first, then invest. The other option is to join a diaper service for the first month or so and try out which works well for you.
I did with my first two for a little while but gave up because of stink issues with the microfiber. I am planning on cloth diapering with this one but am switching to prefolds and covers. Hopefully they wont have the same problems I had with the microfiber.
I plan to CD. I feel lucky that our intended daycare provider will handle them. I have a close friend who CD's and I have gotten a ton of info from her. I feel like I know what I want, mostly bumgenius AIO's and am open to a few other brands as well. The FAQ on the CD board saved me a lot of online research though, and was a good place to get ideas.
My favorite is gdiapers. We never had to switch as DD grew. They never leaked. They are also a hybrid so you can use their disposable insert instead of cloth if you want. When DD starts preschool in August we will use the disposable insert when she's in school.
Gdiapers are on sale right now on Zulily.

I love cloth diapering! It does seem overwhelming at first, especially if you don't know where to start. I didn't have anyone that I knew IRL who CD'd and there weren't any local stores who had any. I had to rely on the internet. The CD board is helpful, also if you search The Cloth Diaper Compendium on FB, that is a huge group with a ton of resources. Also I found these websites helpful with DS:
Yup, we've cloth diapered both our boys. Our youngest is still in them. We use pre-folds with covers. Our diapers are still good for our 3rd...lots of money savings!
I keep thinking about it. I think it'll be great to save the money and we have a great washer/dryer in the house, so it would be pretty convenient. DH isn't sold on it yet, though. I may watch some of those tutorial with him and see if it's something we are interested in. Thanks for the advice about the daycare providers, we haven't started yet, but I can add that to the questions.
When I dug out my maternity clothes last night, I came across my newborn stash and size one stash. They are sooo tiny!!!! I just ordered a newborn bundle off Zulily since it was a great price and you have to use the disposable inserts with the newborn size. I used that size till her cord stump fell off.

You're gonna have to tell me what store this is! My mom CD'd my little brother so I know a little bit already. However, my bro is 11 now so things have changed a little bit. I really want to CD but convincing the husband is going to take a little bit of effort.
We will be doing cloth and started our stash! Very excited about it! We bought a newborn stash off of luv your baby. We also took a cloth diapering class.
I surely do. We started with DD once one size diapers fit. We'll start from birth this time.
We started with pockets and I almost quit because I hated stuffing them. Switched to AIOs and never looked back. For baby, we've got a full stash of both newborn AIOs and prefolds/covers.

We CD'd with our two starting when my oldest was 3 months old. My entire stash got ruined though and I'm having a hard time wanting to start a whole new stash for what is likely our last baby.
Love cloth! My DC lady just started refusing to use them after 2 years so I'm really wanting DD to potty train as I hate buying sposies!
I'm slowly buying my newborn stash as I sold DDs to buy her OS dipes. I can't wait to find out the sex so I can start buying non gender neutral diapers!
I used CD with DS and will with this one too. I used pockets/AIOS for the first year and wool and fitteds from Sloomb from the time he was 1 until he started using the potty at 2.5. I wish I had known about wool and fitteds from the begining, but it took a long time to get past the sticker shock.

We are doing CD with this baby (and any future babies down the road). I just started my stash today actually. I bought 2 BG Elementals (AIO), 9 large size BG AIOs, and 5 medium size BG AIOs from a lady who's done with CDing. I was hestitant to buy used, but I bought at a price that I had a hard time figuring out a reason not to at least try it. I do plan on buying the rest of my stash during Cotton Babies' seconds sales and Earth Day sales.
For those of you who have bought a newborn stash - why was it worth it to you? How long was the baby in them before you switched to AIOs or whatever else was next in line? What kind did you get? How much did you budget for how many diapers?
I started CDing my DD at 2 weeks old. I was afraid of prefolds and only bought newborn AIOs. Her Totbot Easy Fits fit her until she was 6 months old!
This time I'll CD starting at the hospital. For the newborn stage we'll do prefolds and covers since I've learned how much I like them at that age. I'll also get a few AIOs for the grandparents!
I would highly recommend finding one of the stores (online) or (storefront), that sell you a stash of mixed diapers, then once you decide what works for you, return what you don't like and replenish with what you did.
I started with gdiapers and love them. When they were on sale, I tried a few AIOs, both DH and I hated them.

We CD our son so we will def CD the new baby. We started with gdiapers and had troubles with compression leaks. We then switch to a few others and landed on Bumgenius. BG is our favorite! We love their elementals, freetime (super absorbent), and 4.0. We used only 4.0 for daycare. We used Kawaii goodnight heavy wetters at night stuffed with a prefold and bamboo doubler.
I just finished my NB stash since we did not start with cloth til DS was in one size. I have a mix of prefolds and covers and BG AIOs and some THX AIOs.

We CDed DD from birth (she's still in a cloth overnight diaper but is daytime potty-trained) and will do the same with this baby. I bought mostly pockets (BG 3.0s with snaps) but hated stuffing them so we use prefolds and covers. Actually I use the BG pockets as covers and they work great.
We are! My brother and SIL do with my niece so we have had some practice, as well as my parents so that is already helpful! I've gotten some for our stash from the Cotton Babies Second Sale. Probably will use disposable while the LO is a newborn because we are just having one and depending on how big the baby is, they may not fit in the newborn size long. I might change my mind though and get some newborn ones.
We are doing it for trash and money reasons. We live out in the country and don't have trash service. So we have to either take our trash to the county dump or burn it. Diaper trash would be a major burden for us so cloth diapers seemed like a good option. Also we are going down to one income so we decided to do it to save money.
I second the diaper sprayers. My hubby will probably make us one after we start solids. Technically you are supposed to flush solids poop out of disposables but nobody every does. That's for health and disease control in or land fills/getting into the water supply.

Loving ask the info and links being posted!
As far as washing I have a top loader but have had the most luck handwashing them with a bucket and plunger (and gloves for me).
Also if I can recommend one thing, It's get a diaper sprayer, They are awesome for when solid poop starts happening.
