Please help! Sleeping at night.

I really need advice and help on what I am to do with my LO. Everyone tells me to NOT have your baby sleep with you at night bc you can roll on your baby or you will have that much of difficult time getting them in their own bed when they are older. Me and my babies father are not together, she is with him every Wednesday and every other weekend. When I get her back her sleep pattern is always off. At his place she sleeps with him and not in her play pen (small house no room for her own crib). She can't sleep through the night in her playpen so they (him and his mom) moved her to the bed. There she sleeps through the night knowing the comfort of them being next to her. At my place she sleeps in her crib fine wake up at 4 wants to play and then I feed her she goes back to sleep. I assume this is a growth sput. However, on the Sunday nights I get her back she wake up every hour on the dot in her crib and I do not pick her up but put her back on her tummy and she quickly falls asleep. I guess my main question is, is there a problem with letting your LO fall asleep with you in the bed? Is it that much harder when they are older? I know she probably can not handle the back and forth, plus she is teething. I am just at loss of what to do because when I get her it takes me 3-4 nights to get her back on schedule everytime. PLEASE HELP!!!

    I'm planning to get a co-sleeper, which is like a little playpen that you put in your bed with you. It should keep things like blankets you're using from getting on the baby.

    I have no experience with these because I'm a pregnant FTM. But maybe you could ask around?

    For me it would be more dangerous for me to have to pick up my LO from a sitting or standing position since I have a neuro disease. My parents' generation were hippies so everyone in my family has co-slept with no problems.

    Could you try the arms reach cosleeper? I did something similar to that with the playpen (kept it near me) but if baby won't sleep in that, maybe she will in the cosleeper.

    I co slept, i still do on occasion. The key to co sleeping is doing it safley. Make sure the baby cant roll off the bed, make sure the baby is not snuggling on you or next to you. And yes it is a very hard habbit to break.

    I co-sleep but I am a VERY light sleeper and hardly move around when I'm sleeping.  It started when I kicked BD out.  I was paranoid he'd try stealing her in the night.  So, I wasn't co-sleeping until DD was about 6-7 months.

     

    DD slept mostly ok in her crib when he was here but she moved around a ton and woke up fussing whenever her paci popped out meaning I was up, too.  I have a mini crib and think it's just too small for her anymore.  She sleeps a lot better when she sleeps with me.

     

    Why can't your LO sleep in the play pen when at dad's?  Just cause she wakes up sometimes?  Tell him babies do that and welcome to the club.

    This! Totally! Omg, I can't stop laughing! "Baby keeps waking me up. WTF?" Sir, babies wake up during the night. Welcome to fatherhood. LOL

    My kid still wakes up if hes not hungry he needs a teething nuk. Or he wants to play.

    LOL...mine still wakes up at least once a week because she's "lonely". :)

    This morning, DD woke up at 3:30am and I tried getting her back to sleep by bringing her into my bed and she was only interested in discovering every inch of my face. Including my teeth and inside my nostrils. Also, she grabbed onto the roots of my hair by my ear, arguably the most painful spot to grab and pull hair (on the head).

    DD was up at 1:30ish last night and would NOT go back to sleep.  I swear she only does this on "school nights."  Seriously, though, I'm sure her ears hurt and all she wanted to do after her bottle was roll around and be weird.  I feel ya, though, Roxalot, as DD is still fascinated with my eyelashes (which normally results in her poking me in the eyes) and likes touching my face sometimes when she's trying to sleep.

    Well if she sleeps in the play pen, he is such a hard sleeper he doesnt wake up. The person that does come however is grandma running down the hall. She peeps and she comes running. There doesnt seem anything I can do about that.

    Im confused is grandma going in your bds room to get the baby. If i were bd that shit would be put to an end.

    Also im confused as to what were being asked. I cosleeping safe. Yup the attatchment parenting board can vouch for that.

    yup, basically if you're not on like pain meds or sleeping meds, typically a heavy sleeper or stupid exhausted that you'd roll around on baby - it's ok to do. IMO if you're that close to baby, you'd be more in tune to anything wrong with baby anyway. I actually read some studies recently about how cosleeping babies had better functioning hearts. and something about how their breathing was better when close to mom. weird. 

    I'm planning on doing it, but totally paranoid. for no good reason, really, I'm a light sleeper. But the mini playpen things that rest next to you seem like a good option, I'm gonna go for one of those to start. Maybe then baby will graduate to actually sleeping right next to me.

    DS has been in bed with me since day one, and I don't see that changing any time soon :)
