Trying "no poo"

So, all you crunchy ladies have inspired me to try not using shampoo. My major reson is that my hair is fine and oily and I'm hoping it will help and I can maybe skip a day or two of waging my hair here and there. So far it's going a lot better than I expected. My hair is not too oily and not at all smelly like I feared. But the texture was weird so I tried using just a conditioner instead of baking soda and vinegar like Ive been doing. That was a big mistake. It didn't rinse out at all and my roots are all sticky. I feel like I need to shower again which is the opposite if what I was going for! Oh well, trial and error I guess?

Re: Trying "no poo"

  • I give all those that can do it props because I love washing my hair. Especially after a day at the beach or after a workout.

I've been really good about washing it every other day and that is hard for me!!

My friend washes her hair once a week-- I'm like how?!?!?!

  • I am starting this next time I can get a shower! I was going to post questions to LaLa today! But now you can be my expert! Can you tell me the exact mixture you make? I've seen lots of different things, but I'd like to hear it from someone I "trust"(creepy internet trust), rather than a blog. This baby made my hair and my skin a hot mess. Next I'm going to try oil cleansing.

  • Lurker here! Following this post because I plan on doing this after my sister's wedding! The casual research I've done says it may take a few weeks for your hair to adjust and I'm scared of having oily hair for the wedding.

Thanks to all the "no poo" ladies here because before this board I had never even heard of it!
