I bed share with my 18 month dd and have done so since she was born. We plan to transition her into a crib in her own room later this week.
With this baby, I plan to have her in our room for at least six months. A year is more likely though. I would prefer she not be in our bed though. We'll see what happens.
We did PNP w/bassinet option in put room for first two-three months. As pp said, it makes nursing in middle of night soooooo much easier, especially in the beginning when you are exhausted and baby is up every few hours. She transitioned to her room and crib fine.
Our first son had terrible reflux which would cause him to choke at times. I also had a previous Bumpie who had son born on his b-day that past away from SIDS and due to both of those things our son slept in our room for about the first 10-11 months in his RNP. The RNP helped make sure he didn't flip to his stomach which scared me until he almost turned 2.
I'm thinking I will do the same with DS2, but we will see.

I can't sleep with a baby in the room, they make too much noise rooting around in the middle of the night! Our nursery is directly across the hall and the crib is on the same wall as our bed, both right in front of the doors, so there is no trouble hearing. We don't even use a monitor most nights. My mommy-sense would have me awake before she even got a full cry going most times, so I never really worried. I plan on doing the same with Charlie and having him in his own bed from night one. Well, to be fair, I think C and I camped on the couch for the first week because I was too tired to move and she slept better on me than she did in her crib. Turns out she didn't like the swaddle and is a tummy-sleeper. Once we flipped her she was a through the night sleeper and we were all happier.
I need my own space, and luckily so do my babies .
@emfoxc We used the newborn napper in the PnP for the first 6 weeks or so. I haven't heard about them being unsafe. You just have to stop using the napper when they start to roll (or are attempting to roll). As for the changing table, we didn't use it much but obviously you can't leave them unattended like any other one. Some ppl have mentioned it leaning but we didn't have the problem.
I have a bed in the baby room. That way I don't wake DH during the night feeding. When it is time for the baby to sleep by itself, I will Just move out the room. That way he or she will Know it's bed already. ( I don't want to be walking up and down stairs with the baby is another reason for doing this)
For those of you who keep baby in your bedroom for a while: does DH get up as well when baby wakes to eat? Does he sleep through it? FTM here, and I'm not sure yet what we'll do. I like the idea of having the baby nice and close, but I don't want DH to have to be awake too. I plan to BF, so it's not like he'll be able to really do much.
I wanted my son in his own crib from the first night. My husband on the other hand was nervous about it. We had him in our room in a bassinet for about 8 weeks, then we moved him to his crib. It worked really well sine I was up every 3 hours or so to nurse. By the time he was 2 months old, he was waking 1-2 times a night, so it wasn't such a big deal.
@hotsaucencake@live.com My husband is a pretty heavy sleeper, but he would hear us get up, and he would usually change the babys diaper while I got the pillows all set up to nurse him. Then he would just go back to sleep. It was nice to have a little help. If he really needed the sleep for work the next day, he would go sleep in the guest room.
For the first month or so the LO will stay in our room so it is easier to get up and do the feeding in the middle of the night. I still need to find something for LO to sleep in when I had my daughter she slept in a crib that was my mom's but my sister has it know and is in FL. I am hoping to find a second hand one and use that. Once I feel the baby is doing ok at sleeping through the night then we will but LO in his or her room.
We nursed our son so my husband would typically sleep while he was being nursed, however I had a disk bulge when my son was 2 months. My husband would bring our LO to me to nurse, burp him, swaddle him and then also place him back in the rock in play.

DS will be in the room with us. I'm still thinking about sleeping arrangements. I'm fairly certain will buy a bassinet for the first few months. DD is 7 and still in our bed but we're hoping this LO will be transitioned to his crib around a year old .
Baby is going to sleep in bassinet and pack n play until at least 6-8 months and then I will see on whether she needs her crib. I was pulling myself up and climbing out of my crib at 9 months and my crib became useless at that point cuz it was too much of a safety issue. So if this little one is the same as me, we will not even purchase a crib and go straight to a low to the floor bed or mattress on the floor toddler bed at a year old like my mom did with me.
