Okay, I'm a FTM with due date of July 6th for my DD. We have narrowed down names and think we may have a winner. Let me know what your opinion is of this name
Briley Grace Rana (last name pronounced "Rain-uh")
Honestly, Briley isn't my taste. It seems trendy to me, lumped in with the 'Riley' craze. Grace is pretty and classic but it's an overused middle name, IMO.
I personally think Briley sounds teen mom/ trailer trash. Grace is pretty but also a name that can easily go that way. Ironically I have a friend named Rana pronounced exactly like your last name and I think it is really pretty, so, yeah, the only name I like there is your last name.

Well, Riley isn't an option because that is my nephew's name. We were naming her after my two nephews who we are extremely close to. Their names are Bret and Riley. We combined their names to create Briley. We chose Grace as a middle name because it is only by the "grace" of God that we are having this baby. We have struggled with infertility for years and have already lost one child. So the name has meaning to us.

Going back to my first post as well as what the other PP's said, Briley sounds very made up.
Grace is a timeless name & very classic. You simply can't go wrong with it. But I personally wouldn't use a made up name like Briley. It doesn't seem like it would age well from infancy into an adult. I can't see a 50 year old woman named Briley.
Best wishes for a wonderful pregnancy. I'm very sorry for your struggles. This LO will be my rainbow also.
I think your daughter deserves her own name. I don't think her reason for existing is to pay tribute to her cousins. Sorry, I don't mean any snark saying this. As a matter of fact, I'm not nearly as close to my cousins as I was when we were little, I wouldn't want to be constantly reminded of their existence every time someone pronounced my name for the rest of my life. The reason for choosing Grace as a MN, on the other hand, is very touching and unique to your story; you could keep the theme consistent and find a name with a similar meaning to go with it. Grace is beautiful BTW!
@MosyMama said it best. I think your daughter should have her own name, especially since you are so close to your nephews.
Grace is beautiful and has a nice sentiment to it. Maybe use this as her first name? Or maybe look for another name with special meaning, like "Evelyn" which means "wished for child" or something similar.
I don't care for Briley for the reason PPs mentioned and I'm not quite sure why you would name your DD after your nephews. We are close to DH's family, but when my BILs and SIL start having kids I think it would be weird if they named them after our kids.
I like Grace but it is very common as a MN these days. Other names with the meaning you want to carry include Dorothy and Theodora (both = gift from God) and I'm sure there are lots of others, those are just the first ones off the top of my head (and on my own list if we ever have another girl).

I'm sorry but I really dislike Briley. It sounds made up. Grace is pretty and timeless though, I say switch it up - Grace Briley, if you are absolutely set on Briley.
I completely agree with this poster! I think Briley would be a wonderful middle name, especially since it has significance to you. Grace Briley Rena flows wonderfully. Congratulations to you!
See this is what's weird to me. I do not like a single name that has been suggested. Matter of fact, I hate some of them. Maybe I'm just weird.
Well, how long until your baby is here? You two could go through different inspirations sources, something's bound to come up! You could start with name styles or trends you like. For instance, do you like Hawaiian names? I for one have always had a soft spot for the name Leilani, which means heavenly flower. Yet another one might be Noelani, which means beautiful heaven-sent girl.
There, just a couple of suggestions to give you an idea of the many ways you can proceed....

You obviously like Grace, which has been suggested over and over. It's a WAY better name with MUCH better significance. Give your daughter a special name that is just for her. Like Grace. Making up a name is bad enough but making up a name that is just 2 other people's names smooshed together is even worse.
PPs have already said it all, but Grace is miles, MILES better than Briley.
So do you like the sound, the tribute, or the meaning?
Tribute-wise, could you use a different, female name from your family? Your MN, your grandma's name, his grandma's name...on and on. One of the aunt's middle names of one of your nephews?
Sound- several have been covered, but Brianna, Violet, Hailey..etc.
Meaning- Gwyneth means "blessed", Eliana means "God has answered", Isabel means "God's promise"-there are tons.
I strongly agree with PPs that your daughter needs her own special name.
Grace is lovely.
When I read Rana, I read frog (rana is frog is Spanish). Reina (how you want to pronounce it), on the other hand, means queen in Spanish which is a lovely name.

Is there another way to honor your nephews bedsides combining their names? It may take some thinking and some creativity but you might be able to. For example, one way we thought about paying homage to my dad was naming our son Mason. It wasn't my dad's name but he was very involved with masonry.

Briley is not a made up name. It's Irish and means noble/strong. But I understand how it falls in the trendy name category. That doesn't particularly bother me though.

Whatever website told you that was...well...lying.
Seriously?? I'm not an idiot. That's all I'm going to say because the rest wouldn't be nice.
I mean...what is your source for the meaning of the name? I'm sure you're not an idiot, but any idiot with access to the Internet can pull something out their butt and post it on a website If you could cite some authority it would be interesting to know, and honestly most of us would probably like the name a little more if it was something with an authentic meaning and history and not just something that you yourself said you and your DH made up.
I am also wondering, now that this thread has dragged on for a couple of days...were you just asking for opinions on Briley? Do you want other suggestions? Because "I hate all the names you like" is an honest response, but doesn't give us much to go on if you want more help. Several people gave you a lot of ideas. If you're talking about being nice, I think it would be nice to thank them for taking the time to do that, even if the names aren't to your taste.

It IS a surname. I didn't mean it was a first name necessarily. I just was trying to explain that I didn't actually make the name up. I just like this name. I like it because it is like a smoosh of my nephews names WHICH I do want to consider. BTW - my nephews are older and know we are talking about this name and they like it. So does my husband. We are not set on it, but its at the top of our list. I apologize if you are offended that I don't agree with you on your opinion. To each their own. I think a lot of whether you like a certain type of name has to do with your personality, location, etc.
Where I'm from, names like some of the ones suggested regardless of how classic they are would be laughing stocks. I see some of the names posters have selected or think are pretty and I'm like heck no. That doesn't necessarily make them bad.
I appreciate all the feedback I've received so please don't take it that I don't appreciate your input. It has made me think long and hard about the name, but the fact is that I still like it. (shrugged shoulders)

Briley sounds made up and too trendy/juvenile.
Grace is pretty, as is Rana (but I'd suggest a different spelling for the pronunciation you're looking for...like Raina or Rena).
Instead of Briley, what about...
Riley
Brynn
Quinn
Hadley
Harper
Gabrielle

Sorry OP, I love Grace but not Briley. Most "Br" names sound very made up to me. Briley, Brysin, Brenna, Brielle, & etc.

Very clever!
DS2's middle name is Mason as a way to honor DH Jason without doing a Jr.
