Ok, so I just started registering for stuff. So far, so good, until I came across all of the different types and brands of cribs. I thought I would go with the davinci 4 in 1 but people have been complaining about the finish of the crib. Have any of you ladies done any research into cribs? If so, what are you getting?
Re: Let's talk about cribs!
ETA: We wanted them to match for the nursery but once they outgrow their toddler beds they are either getting moved into bunk beds (if both boys or both girls) or into separate rooms (if boy/girl) so we didn't see a benefit to getting something that would convert totally into a full size bed.

We are using the same crib we did we our son. Spot on Square's Eicho Crib. I love it. Here's a picture of the nursery before my son was born in Jan '11.

I went inexpensive. I didn't have the confidence that I would use this piece of furniture for years to come. Most of my friends rationalized their 2k worth of nursery furniture saying it'd be used for years and years..
We went with the Olivia Mod Crib off of Walmart.com
DD has chewed on the crib and its gotten a nick or two from shuffling around the nursery. Since it was around $250..I haven't stressed to much.
Since DD is still in her crib, we're need to purchase another. I was eyeing the Graco Lauren..just an FYI on Walmart.com there's a deal with some of the Gracos...a free mattress comes with the purchase of the crib
We haven't purchased a crib yet, and with DS it took us a long time to really find the one we felt was perfect for him. He was a little over 5 months before we found a crib for him.
All I know is we are going back to the same furniture store where we bought DS's, it has to be solid wood, and we are going with the convertible crib set again. DS's goes from the crib to a toddler bed, day bed then full size bed. If you do decide to go the convertible crib route, I highly recommend purchasing all the extra pieces with the crib. This ensures that your parts will not be discontinued for when you need them in the future.

what you put in there depends on your comfort level.
We did a crib sheet and that was it. Baby was in a pjs and a sleepsack. I didn't feel comfortable with bumpers and thought the mesh ones were ugly and didn't really ever have a need for them. No blankets when they're little. I didn't have any toys ..stuffed animals or the crib toys that light up and make noise and attach to the side. I had a friend whose daughter fell and hit one of those hard. We had a mobile but she started sleeping in the crib around 3 months..I think it got taken out around 7 once she was pulling herself up and could reach it.
At around 13 months we started using a A&A dream blanket in the crib with her and her stuffed lamb.

We have the Graco Lauren crib, purchased from Target. It's held up well with Catherine in it, is easy to adjust the height of the mattress, and looks very nice. However, when it comes to her crib, if nothing else in the house, she's never tried to climb out, never chewed on it, and rarely if ever jumps around in here. She falls asleep once she's in it and just sort of lies there yelling for us in the mornings. How well it would stand up to a more rambunctious baby, I have no idea.
ETA: I just saw the stuff about what to have in the crib. When she was tiny tiny it was just a crib sheet and the baby. Once we switched her to a tummy sleeper at 2-3 months, and it started getting cooler at night, we added a blanket. It was tucked in on both sides and only went up to her armpits. Being on her stomach meant it would have been much more difficult for her to pull it over her head/face. She has always done great with it and now, at 20 months, we're using an IKEA crib-sized duvet and she loves it.
