1st birthday

DD's is coming up and I have no idea what to get her.  I was eyeing some cool new toys but they already have them at day care.  I know I want to get her a growth chart but that won't be something fun for her now.  I need a game plan so I can let my sister know before she starts buying for DD.  My sister goes a little crazy.  Ideas??

    Do you have Violet (the leapfrog purple dog thing)? If not...you need to get that for her! My DD still has hers and loves it.

    Ooh, the cookie jar is cute!  She has a talking picnic basket that might go good with that.  She does have a talking dog thing.  I don't think it's Violet but one very similar.  Sadly, I know all the songs it sings by heart and catch myself singing them in my head from time to time.

    I would also like ideas, even though DD is only about 7.5 mo, I can guarantee that BD's mom is going to go apeshit on gifts for her.

    Oh oh, also, Mega Bloks. The big ones. DD loved those things. And the big triangle crayons and paper were a huge hit.

    Oooh crayons!  I can't wait till DD starts coloring!  Did you get your LO crayons that early?  Didn't she eat them? She has a few megablocks and only likes them when I build something for her.  Then she swipes it from me.  There's a ton of different megablock things, though.  She has a ton of wooden blocks and soft plasticy blocks.  I build towers and she (or the cat) knocks them down or she only takes away the very top block.  I think the cat likes blocks more than the kid does.

    Yep, I got them for her for her first birthday. Not gonna lie, she did try to eat some of them, so I just watched her carefully. :) Give your DD a few months, she'll latch onto the mega bloks like crazy. Mine didn't "get" them so much at 1 year but around 15-18 months she loved building towers and knock them over.

    I LOVE coloring. Haha. I swear DD's coloring books have more pages done by me than by her!

    Good suggestions.  She has a ton of books.  She likes the ones that make sounds.  K-mart is having a Dr. Suess sale.  I'll probably get her some of those.  Also, Carter's is having a 40% off sale.  I will be hitting that as soon as my tax money hits my account.
