Has anyone used one or are you planning to use one? If so what brand? And if you have used one do you think it made a difference? I'm looking at the bellefit I just don't know which one to choose!
I think there's some out there that promise it helps you get in shape faster. It's most likely BS. I just need something stronger than Spanx that'll suck everything in for the wedding.
I used one and I seriously cannot say enough good things. I had a c/s and it not only helped with pain post-surgery, but it helped me get my figure back. I swear by it!!! I wore mine for nearly three months and it totally helped!!
I have a surgical grade girdle but also a belly band or whatever the thing is called all the celebrities use. It was worth EVERY penny!
P.S. Mine was not so much a girdle as it was a large strip of fabric that wrapped around my midsection. It didn't compromise my organs returning to their natural position at all. My OB said women have been "binding" for centuries and when done properly, it offers a lot of benefits.
I didn't use one with my first 2 pregnancies, but will be using one this time. I already have some Diastasis Recti (abdominal wall separation) that I've been doing some physical therapy for and my physical therapist recommended that I use one so that the muscles will heal in a better position this time around.
So I am using it for medical reasons, but I won't be disappointed if helps me shrink down faster. I haven't looked into brands yet so thanks for posting
After 9 months of my baby pushing my organs around, I think I'm going to give mine a break!
Yeah for real. I wouldn't do it to get my figure back or lose weight or whatever but I will consider a support belt, especially if I have a c-section. At only 21 weeks I sometimes feel like I need one to help support my tummy! I'll just be using the one I get at the hospital though, and I definitely won't be sleeping in it!
I had an abdominal binder from the hospital and will likely use one again. I wore it more for peace of mind and comfort- I felt much more supported while my incision healed. It was a little bulky and certainly offered no cosmetic appeal.
i used one with DD well it was more like for binding/support it was 10 bucks and it was from bally's it zipped, had 3 sizes. it was great. I'm getting another.
I'm a FTM, but my friend just had her fourth and had to have surgery for her Diastasis Recti. She swears I need to get a postpartum wrap of some sort so I'm listening to her!
@mztwilson i just went in my closet to check. I got mine from www.bellybandit.com It was so thin that you couldn't notice it much under my clothing. My hospital-grade one, that they give to abdominal surgery patients, is much bulkier.
My one caveat is this: if you or anyone ends up needing to have a c/s it is IMPERATIVE that you ask the doctor and nurses to show you the proper positioning for binding. Improper positioning can lead to stress on your incision, rather than helping it heal by taking pressure off.
As far as the reasons one might look into post-birth binding. I will not lie: I wore mine to help with my figure. I have a natural hour-glass figure even when overweight and I wanted to retain it. I am not ashamed at all to admit that the large reason I got it was for vanity. I just looked at it as another way to take care of myself. Seeing your post-partum body can be a bit much to handle for some of us the first time. Again, I see no shame in that. I am damn proud of this body and I will do whatever it takes to support it. The health benefits of binding were just an added benefit for me. Not sure if there are other reasons aside from vanity for someone having a natural birth to use one, but feel good about your choice either way!
For me, post partum support is a must have. Spanx like high wasted support panties are fine.
Your stomach muscles are stretched to the limits and it takes time for things to get back where they are supposed to be. For me its not about fitting into pre pregnancy clothing, its about feeling like my insides aren't sloshing around uncontrollably.
Plus, they help to hold that giant pad in place nice and secure. I dont like gaps.
I wouldn't get anything fancy, but will definitely be getting something to hold it all in.

100% it helps with the pain post C-section... I even wore it to bed!!!
@MrsCase1 - Thank you so much for the suggestion... and the admission! I've been planning to get something like the Belly Bandit, and while the health benefits sound nice, I'm really after the cosmetic effects. I'm a pear shaped girl... I don't have pretty legs or big boobs, but I've always been proud of my waist. I'd like to get it back after the baby comes. You're right... there's no shame in admitting to wanting to take care of yourself that way. As if that could be a bad thing!
I had the one the kardashian crew rep'd. I'm a sucker for reality tv. The Velcro was aweful and rolled after I washed it per their instructions. I might but a new brand this time.
I intend to get one but I'm usually a weekend corset wearer anyway. Pregnant chicken recommended https://www.bellefit.com not long ago.
@hampire I must see your "weekend" corset! For some I am picturing a little something like this...
More or less.
No I just own about 8 steel boned corsets I'd wear out on the weekends although a real tightlacer would wear them all the time is what I meant.
More like...
No that's not me.

@buzzellsl what physical therapy are you doing? I've started to get Diastasis Recti too and am not sure what to do about it. I've cut out most ab exercises for now while I figure it out. I feel like I should be doing something to keep my core strong, but I don't want to make it worse!

@crossfitkiwi I was prescribed physical therapy for hip pain and it was the therapist that noticed the DR. My OB never mentioned it. We are working on pelvic floor strengthening (kegels) and some core strengthening. She has me doing exercises that target the transverse abdominals (the really deep ones). Lots of isotonic contracting while doing other exercises, but no crunches. It's been very helpful.

Can I just say, you guys seem really awesome and I would totally hang out with you IRL! We can play video games together lol
I am definitely going to ask my dr about this! I had an emergency c section the first time and was unprepared for the recovery. In hindsight, some support sounds awesome! Seeing how we are planning a repeat c section and I want to rebound quicker for summer, I will try anything!! Thanks!
Re: Postpartum girdle??
This. I have no idea yet but I might depending on how hot it looks on - just kidding lol
DD1: June 2014 - VBM4lyfe
