Babies on the Brain

Totally clueless

Me and my husband will be married two years in a month and I've been talking to him on and off this winter about starting a family this summer. He has agreed and were both on the same page. It may seem odd but I take prenatal vitamins as my multi v so I'm covered with that. But as far as anything else trying to have a baby goes I'm clueless. We want to start trying in June. Should I see my gyno a month before? Two months before? Should I start reading baby books? Should I be doing anything with my nutrition to help in the conseption? Are there books or bibles about all this? Am I crazy that I'm planing five months ahea of time? Lol

If you have had your yearly well-woman exam within a year of when you start TTC, you don't need to make any extra appointment with your doctor. Unless of course if you have some specific medical condition that would complicate pregnancy, etc.

You can read any book you want. A popular one for TTC is "Taking Charge of your Fertility."

As far as nutrition, you can continue doing what you're doing. It's good to take prenatals before you actually tart TTC because you want the folic acid to build up.

I would start temping and checking your CM soon so that you can get to know your cycle.

  • If you have no specific medical issues or medications that need to be addressed prior to TTC, and you've been doing your yearly exam, no need to go to your doctor. It really depends on your style. There's really not much you NEED to do before TTC, but some people like to prepare in some ways. If that's you, ditto TCOYF and start charting/temping --learning about your body and cycles in this way will help take away much of the unknown of TTC and help you time sex better. Otherwise, some people choose to start exercising more, read books, drink more water, eat better, etc. but as long as you're taking a PNV there's really not much else you need to do.

My doctor recommended this book, I find it very helpful.
