When did your witching hours end?

Kiddo likes to make a big fuss from like 6-9pm, give or take. It died down for a couple weeks and then came back with a vengeance this week. I'm assuming it has a lot to do with the 6 wk growth spurt, and our pediatrician said fussiness peaks at 6 weeks. Just curious for those of you with babes older than that, did the witching hours end?

Re: When did your witching hours end?

  • Nope. 9-11 is her witching hour. Since we brought her home from the hospital. She's almost 2 months now. Without fail. :(

  • Well that is not what I was hoping to hear :-q
  • He's pretty great the rest of the time, so while it sucks...I'll take it. What is frustrating for DH though is that he gets home from work and that's the only time he has to spend with the kiddo and it's spent trying to get him not crying. I'm off to bed around 10:00, so it's just kind of a wreck from the minute he walks in the door. He is trying to be patient, but he thinks there has to be a reason the baby is fussing, not just blaming it on a witching hour period. Babies cry, just deal.

My DH is like this too. LO has gotten better since she's been on zantac but he kept saying "she hates me!" And got so frustrated whenever she would cry.
  • I've used a few drops of Tummy Calm with LO and it's really taken the edge off of her gas and digestive issues. Instead of screaming in pain, she just wiggles the farts out. I keep pushing it back later and later to judge its effectiveness. And DH gets to see happy baby. Also, I gave up dairy and have seen a world of difference. I had some milk chocolate and LO was having a torturous time burping the following days. Good thing I love dark chocolate!
  • I think tonight I'll try giving him a bath in the midst of his witching hours to see if the distraction knocks him out.
  • My LO is 7 weeks and the witching hour seems to be tapering. I do gas drops in the evening and gripe water in between her last feedings. It seems every other night she starts to get worked up so I quickly do a swaddle, pacifier, white noise and stand and rock/burp her. This has worked like a charm and she generally falls asleep within 10 minutes.
  • Still happening at 10 weeks. It's something they usually grow out of at around 3-4 months.
