Let's talk poop.

LO is exclusively bm fed, and I'm a little worried about her poop. Here recently she is only pooping once every 2-3 days and when she finally does poop it's not all watery like it used to be, it's a lot thicker(mayonnaise consistency..... Totally ruined everyone's appetite and thought of some mayo, buuuut I couldn't think of anything else...sorry) I'm thinking it's just thicker because she's going longer without pooping? Should she be pooping more?

How often do your LOs poop and poop consistency?

Re: Let's talk poop.

  • No help here, my EBF baby poops 10 times a day. It's a watery, light brown color.

  • My ebf baby will poop several times one day and then sometimes go 2-3 days with no poops. In the book that my ped gave me, going a few days without pooping can be normal for ebf babies .
  • Mine has been doing this too for about 2 1/2 weeks now. It is thicker also and is usually orange and reallllly smelly (diapers don't normally gross me out, these have me gagging). AmyG said it can be normal for an EBF baby to only go every 2-3 days, and she hasn't seemed distressed yet so I'm just keeping an eye on it and will bring it up at her two month apt.
  • My LO goes every 2 days but its watery and mustard color
  • Yup this sounds exactly like my little guy too, poops once every 2-3 days in one big horrible smelling explosion. It's been like that for weeks. I brought it up with the doctor at his 2 month check up and she wasn't at all concerned.

  • Thanks ladies for some reassurance!! She does pass gas and at night sometimes seems like her belly hurts but she was doing that before she only started pooping every 2-3 days! I just wanted to make sure this is normal and the foods I'm eating are constipating her!!
