So thursday night DH and I went out for our last date BB (before baby). We got home around 11 and my back started hurting so I took a long hot shower and went to lie down. As soon as I hit the bed, I get a contraction, but othing else follows. I can't get comfy, I'm up and down all night, and super miserable cone morning time.
Thankfully though we were scheduled for our final NST and visit before our scheduled induction (Feb 4th). As soon as I hit the NST chair the contractions start rolling. They become long and regular. I see the doctor and he does a cervical and I have progressed since two weeks proir, but not by much. The doctors decide that since we were planning on inducing in 4 days anyway because of the issues with the pre-e and concerns over the placenta, that I should just head to the hospital because either way the baby was coming that day.
We got to L&D at 10:30 am and they allowed us to attempt to labor on our own for a while. So we hung out, walked around and let family know what was going down. They had me do regular checks with the fetal monitors just to make sure we were hitting certain patterns and time tables. By 2:30 we were still in the same sorts as we were at 10:30 so they decided to break my water and the place the epi shortly after, and once fluids were administered. So the doctor broke my water - which ZOMG SO WEIRD - and they hooked me up to the IV.
About a half hour later the anesthesiologist came I do to the epi. This was the part I was nervous about the whole time. Lucky me, when he attempted to place it a vessel was hit instead of the open space. So they had to stab me a second time. It was painful and scary, but they were really good about keeping me calm and explaining things. Once the epi was in and admibistered I was left on the fetal monitors. My contractions began to slow to 4-5 per minute and afer about 2 hours they decided to start pitocin to get me going again. This was at 5 pm. By 9:30 I had no progression cervically, I gad hit the higest progression of pit and the baby was all the way up in the sac. He was seriously like, hiding under my boob. This is when the doctor decided to call it arrested dilitation and told us we were going in for a c-sec. TBH I was really upset about this, but I held it together because I knew this was the safest option for my son. By 10:00 we were I the OR ane I was high as a kite.
Kiernan Michael was born January 31, 2014 at 10:23 pm. He weighed 7 lbs 9.5oz and is 19.5 inches long. Daddy got to hold little K, who did wonderfully on his Apgar (9/9), immediately.
Im seriously bummed about the c-sec and the recovery, but I am so happy my little boy was born safely.
