For mommas on #3

If you had two children of different sexes, did your symptoms during pregnancy change between them? I've hear people say they felt completely different with their son than their daughter. I'm just curious!

Re: For mommas on #3

  • Totally. But I also attribute it to a second pregnancy. It was just SO much harder on my body. Also, might sound crazy, but I also attribute it to his personality. Even his movements were so much rougher than DD's ever were.

  • My sister had two completely different pregnancies with her two daughters. DD1 she was sick until 16 weeks, and had a ton of symptoms. With #2 she had a very easy symptomless pregnancy. She had two very different labors as well.

  • Mine are both boys, but my pregnancies were completely different!
  • This is my third. DD1 no m/s just occasional nausea and tired. DD2 threw up the whole first tri. Baby3 I'm nauseous all day every day, can't eat or barely drink anything, so tired by 1-2 p.m. I'm falling asleep. Boy this time?? ;)
  • My DD was completely different than DS and this one is completely different than those two. Who knows :)
  •

With my daughter, I had virtually no symptoms at all. With Jr., I had a ton. Major back pain from the very beginning, severe nausea (I used zofran until around 17 weeks or so), exhaustion, incessant peeing. This time I'm exhausted, and I have random bouts of nausea, but that's about it. I think this one is a girl because of the dreams I had after I had Jr (I don't care if that sounds crazy). It's hard for me to go by the symptom thing because I was so much younger when I had my daughter. Almost 13 years younger.
I was wondering if age has anything to do with it.  It is a little too early for me to tell if this pregnancy is like my most recent with my DD, but I know it was drastically worse than my son's.  They are 10 years apart and I just wonder if my body handled pregnancy better younger in the first tri.
  • I had two opposite pregnancies with the same (boy) outcome! haha!

  • One boy, one girl. Two completely diff. pregnancies and deliveries. This pregnancy so far has been diff. then both of them.
  • I had more M/S (no actual vomiting with either) with my DD than DS. I also felt like DS was way more active, and he had the hiccups all the time. This pregnancy is trending my DD's, so we will see... My babies are all 3 years apart, so I don't know about the relation to aging either.
  • I had 2 boys and very similar pregnancies, so I can't say from personal experience, but I had a friend who had 2 girls and her first pregnancy was cake and her second was so bad it landed her in the hospital several times for dehydration.  So even having 2 of the same sex, the pregnancies can be completely different.

  • YES! #1 was a girl.  I was so sick.  I lost 17lbs in my first trimester....I was on meds....it was HORRIBLE.  I could be 2 rooms away and smell whatever someone was eating.  I wanted to die. I was teaching at the time, and there were several occasions when I would get sick in the trash can in my room.

#2 was a boy.  I had some mild nausea, but NOTHING like #1.
I gained less weight and felt great the entire time (well, until the end).

This time around, I have had mild nausea (only puked a few times).  No major aversions.  My biggest complaint is the exhaustion.
  • Mine were completely different too. I barely knew I was pregnant with DD the whole pregnancy was so easy. With DS I had m/s, I was nauseous until 22 weeks, the RLP was awful, and my back constantly ached.

So far with this one its been like DDs, no m/s or anything yet other than my super nose. Guess we'll see.

This. Every single word of it is me, also. Lol. Coincidentally, my children are very different. My first, the rougher pregnancy, is very opinionated and needs to be in control. My second is very easy going and laid back, much like my pregnancy. Lol

So far, this one is extremely easy.

  • My first(DD) was awful. Horrible m/s and the like. With the next two(DS#1 & 2) my symptoms were much more mild.
