So first, let me caveat this by saying that if I get another potentially high reading, I'll probably just go ahead and call my dr, but in the meantime, I'm confused!
Pre-pregnancy I had low blood pressure (~110/55) and it's been high for me the last few appts (120/80), plus I've had a ton of swelling, but no protein in my urine. I had a headache off and on today and just wasn't feeling right so I took my bp when I got home and it was 135/75. The nurse said to call if my BP is ever higher than 120/80. So...one number is definitely higher, but the other is lower...does that constitute higher overall? Probably something I should have asked. If anyone has experience with this, that would be great. Otherwise I'll wait about 15 minutes and check again and if it's still iffy give them a call.
Thanks!!
Re: I'm confused re: which number is high for "high blood pressure"
Mom to Lily and Colin!
But for reference- I delivered at 37 weeks due to elevated bp. My OB was mostly concerned with the lower number- he did not want it over 90. The top number he was not very concerned about and it varied from 120 to the 140s. If I had the 135/75 reading that you had they would have been very pleased.
But that's my situation- give your doc a call.
120/80 isn't considered high, in fact, I was always lead to believe that was perfectly normal/ideal for everyone. Given pregnancy a bit higher I figured was tolerable.
If/when you hear back you should ask what numbers you should be worried about, so no more confusion?
