Lunch / Dinner Ideas

Can you recommend what your feeding your babe for lunch and dinner? We've only recently stopped the purées (bc she doesn't want to be fed anymore), and I'm already running out of ideas. She does have what we're having for dinner, usually, but lunches are stumping me.

Can she spoon feed herself? DS doesnt want to be spoon fed anymore but has been doing it himself.

What do you normally eat for lunch or dinner? She can pretty much have any of that. Aim for a protein, a veggie, a fruit and maybe a starch. So like, shredded chicken with pasta and peas and a fruit cup or something like that. They aren't very limited at this age

We normally do left overs. I usually open a can of kidney peans and give him some for lunch for a few days. Also he loves shredded cheese, chicken, prunes, carrots, pears, and peaches.

We also normally do leftovers from the night before. If for some reason we don't have leftovers, I'll do avocado slices, some steamed veggies, hummus on toast, cheese sticks, or fruit. She also loves chicken noodle soup (I strain out the broth and just give her the noodles/chicken/veggies).

We're working on using the spoon, but she's still a ways away from using it independently. Thanks for the ideas - I'll try the cottage cheese and hummus...we haven't done either of those yet. I think I'm worrying too much about varying her meals. Leftovers is a perfect idea!

my little girl loves fruits and veggies, so i usually cut up a strawberry or some banana for her with some peas and carrots or sweet potato as a snack. She also loves string cheese,chicken, noodles...etc. One of her favorite lunchtime meals is kraft mac and cheese. Maybe you can try some of that for your LO

We do left overs. If we don't have any then eggs and toast, peanut butter toast with some fruits and veggies etc.

This week she's had: cabbage roll casserole; ham, rice and peas; beef and veggie stir fry with rice; spaghetti with meat sauce; homemade chicken fingers with sweet potato and corn.

I made little oatmeal applesauce muffins and froze them for days I don't have any other ideas. Mostly, he just eats what we eat.

those muffins sound delicious. i just googled a recipe for them. sounds so good!!

but yeah, my 9 m/o DS is just now wanting more finger style foods instead of purees.

just a matter of finding things he will actually eat and not just play babyzilla with and smoosh.

My LO also loves chicken sloppy joes that we froze. I am all about freezing things in small portions and heating them up.
