Still rocking to sleep?

I've seen some of you post that your LOs put themselves to sleep now for the night. Do you just put them in the crib awake and walk out and they will go to sleep? Graham flips the eff out if we try to do that with him. We are still rocking him every night with a bottle.

Are we special snowflakes? I know we can't rock him to sleep forever. Do y'all have any suggestions for putting him down awake?

  • Do you have a mobile? We have that projector one from Fisher Price and it really helped the transition. He'd flip out when we put him in the crib, but when that mobile comes on, he laughs and kicks and doesn't even notice when we leave. Then 20 minutes la

  • Don't worry, you're not a special snowflake, I have lots of friends still in your boat and we were once the same!

Here's what worked for us. Sorry it's so long and rambly!

We do our bedtime routine (bath, boob, book) then r

  • Still rocking DD to sleep here. On a good day it takes maybe 15 min for her to fall asleep. But it can take up to an hour. She gets heavy! DH and I take turns putting her to bed every other night but it's no secret we dread when it's our turn!
  • I gave up rocking because I couldn't take being scratched, kicked and screamed at for an hour before bed and an hour in the middle of the night.

I tried CIO one night....hubby said he'd help support me, which he did by putting on his headphones!

  • I still boob DS to sleep.

It works for us, and I don't anticipate he'll still need to get boobed to sleep in elementary school, so I'm sure we'll be fine. When this doesn't work for either party involved, we'll come up with another plan.&nb

  • Thanks so much for all the advice! Its not that we really mind doing it now, but I just know it will need to end sooner or later. I think I need to grow some thicker skin with him, he's always just been a naturally fussy baby so it's been difficult. I wil

  • I rock Rob a little, and he sometimes falls asleep, but sometimes is wide awake. If he doesn't go to sleep after about 5-10 minutes of rocking, I put him down in this crib with the thing that hangs on the side of the crib and lights up and plays music. He
