Infant boarding pass?!

We're flying Saturday and I'm doing some blog reading and one mom says I need an infant boarding pass? I've never ever heard of this. Do I really STMs?

Re: Infant boarding pass?!

  • I think you just get it when you check in. Bring birth certificate if I remember correctly.
  • Loading the player...
  • We haven't got his back yet.
  • It depends on your airline if you need the birth cert. call them. Then you get their boarding pass when you check in at the counter. You can't do it online

  • Make sure you let them know in advance you have a lap child if LO doesn't have their own seat. When you arrive and check bags, they will check birth certificate to ensure under 2 and give it to you then.

This exactly. I flew a few weeks ago with LO and U.S. Airways didn't require anything, but I flew Southwest home and they needed to see it. I had to go to the health department to get his birth certificate. And you have to check in at the counter to get the boarding pass.
  • Okay awesome. Thanks ladies!
  • I flew SW and had the birth cert but no one ever asked to see it. Maybe because we had a seat for him so he had his own ticket. Anyway, I ordered his cert online and it came very quickly.

  • Please update us on what the airline said. We're flying in June. And what airline? Thanks.

Just google (airline name) Infant policy. Should say there if it is needed or not.

  • We always fly JetBlue and don't need a birth certificate!
  • They let me wear baby through security when I went alone :)
  • Called Delta they said just a doctors approval. And I'm baby wearing through security. Checking a big suitcase and carrying on his diaper bag and a backpack with his boppy and a change of clothes for me in it. I got a gate check bag for his extra car seat and duct taped the inside seams like reviews on amazon said. But as far as infant in arms? I selected that on the app do I still need to call?
  • Please, please, please research the dangers of a lap infant and checking a carseat - it can make them unsafe for future use.

I had no idea! Thank you for posting this. We have two trips coming up in February and I'm going to insist DH buy a ticket for LO now!

  • I only needed her health card because it had her name and birthday on it. You get their boarding pass when you get yours.

I had no idea. I'm flying back home in April for a wedding by myself with LO and was planning to do lap baby. I can't believe I had no idea the dangers before reading up on it - seems so obvious now. I just booked a ticket for LO. Thanks for posting this, @hercules03
  • They didn't give me an infant boarding pass.
